I've been studying Buddhism for a while now, mainly Mahayana. One thing that I constantly think about is the authenticity of the scriptures and words. I've read how the Buddha's words weren't written down until years after his death. There's so much Buddhist text, how do we know these are his teach...

Hmm good point. That's what I was thinking aswell, if what I'm reading benefits me and relieves me of suffering then there must be some truth. I guess it's just more of a curiosity and thirst for knowledge with a hint of scepticism when it comes to the history of it all. But if it makes sense to me ...
