What mantras are considered to grant accomplishment even outside of sadhana, I know Guru Rinpoches and Vajrayogini does, any others?
What does "accomplishment even outside of sadhana" mean?

Re: Hooray for Nuclear Power

Some of the over-consumption in modern age is really wasteful - consider the cases of big mansions upkeep, or huge office buildings that's not even occupied all the time. There's definitely more than enough electricity to go around if those waste were reduced. The real uphill battle is to convince ...

Re: Hooray for Nuclear Power

Exactly. The sooner we admit to ourselves that this lifestyle is not sustainable (especially at a global level), the faster we can arrive at real solutions. I think it'll never happen. So we're pretty much done barring a deus ex machina type thing and since we're not living in a fiction story it do...

Well, the last teachings I received a year ago was not entirely webcasted. The last days of the "Union of Mahamudra and Dzogchen" in August last year was not on the webcast. I was there.
Those were the empowerments days.

Re: Empowerments are for life?

no. it is a single deity vajrasattva practice for purification. Well that it explains it then... 6 syllable or 100 syllable mantra? the sadhana is originally for 6 syllable mantra and refers to this mantra as the one of which the 400,000 can be completed with such and such benefits. there is also a...

Re: Finding a qualified Teacher

Being unimpeded by the element is indeed one of the signs. Also, Kunzang Dechen Lingpa finished the four visions but his body was still here. Even if one is on that level I think it doesn't necessarily mean that one will manifest it.

Re: Interesting excerpt from the (Hindu) Mahanirvana Tantra

Not really. We aren't all part of a tathagatagarbha. I think your are being overly literal in the interpretation of the passage. The Tathagatagarbha is also referred to as the Dharmadhatu in some traditions, where the Dharmadhatu is the ground/space of all existence. If somebody views the passage a...

(iii) As the Sun (though one and the same) when reflected in different platters of water appears to be many, so by illusion the one soul appears to be many in the different bodies in which it abides (132).[/i] That last one is a killer. Dharmadhatu anyone? Or maybe Tathagatagarbha? Not really. We a...

Re: Recovering from Trauma

I don't think trauma is something we ever really completely lose, we can minimize the symptoms of trauma-induced PTSD and such, but being "free" of trauma and resulting neuroses is really an unrealistic expectation prior to a serious level of realization, and probably a counterproductive one. I thi...

Re: Recovering from Trauma

To Echo and add a few things. First; Try and stay sober for a while. I had 'episodes' induced by weed and delusions when I was younger and a few others seemed to come out of nowhere later in my life, but undoubedtly due to my lifestyle and the conditioning of my nervous system. The truth is that if...

Re: Kagyu Monlam live on FB- who is this lama?

You know, for such a big public event, they're really not screwing around with the teachings. I think of how many biggish public events I've been to where the teachers were nice but the teachings were just pablum. The crowd shots are amazing. And worldwide, fewer than 200 people watching the FB, ju...
