Is that true? The turtle part I mean. I don't know why I have it in my mind that it was a joke...
The turtle idea is from Pratchett's Discworld.

Re: sexual harrassment & sexual assault in the US

I'm pretty sure I have above average testosterone. I gain muscle and strength very easily when I train at a caloric surplus. When I'm in a deficit I still maintain my strength. I have never felt like a "drunk grizzly" who gropes women without permission. Men who claim testosterone makes them do stu...

Re: Giving Up Sugar and Junk Food

Does anyone have any tricks to give up sugar and junk food? Thank you. A lot of it is willpower. Just learn to say no. Disagree on cutting down instead of giving up for your first time. Although that may depend on the person. For me cutting down would not have worked for sure, cold turkey was the w...

Maybe. But according to Buddhism its not.
According to Buddhism the world is flat and supported by turtles.

Re: How to understand the body correctly

However on the conceptual and discursive level the idea that people of good intelligence can't grasp things is absurd. Being able to understand the two levels of what is being talked about is maybe key. I can agree with that to an extent. Thing is probably some things you can't really "get" without...

Re: How to understand the body correctly

If you really want to understand this topic from the Vajrayana/Dzogchen point of view you will need empowerments, transmissions, direct introduction etc. After that, there are English translations of works by Longchenpa and others that explain the topic clearly. Indeed. And then, having received th...

Re: When you first started... (lightweight question)

At first I couldn't think of any particular thing but then I thought of the below video by Mingyur Rinpoche which I recently watched. But it's not so much that I would like to have been told something like this (because I was) but that someone would have repeatedly smashed it into my head so that it...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I've gotten the impression that there is also an empowerment for Mandarava. It is also not clear if ChNNR will be participating today. There is also an empowerment, a formal one and a donwang. He gave the latter at least once during a webcast (of course today is just practice). Is the webcast worki...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Is it ok to watch the Mandarava practice webcast tomorrow if you don't have the lung/empowerment? As far as I know, you can also receive a lung by participating in something. Kevin I've gotten the impression that there is also an empowerment for Mandarava. It is also not clear if ChNNR will be part...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I think sometimes Rinpoche says combined when he gives two practices together, like CCD'S Kalachakra and Longsal Kalachakra and Singhamukha he generally gives and Ayu Khandro''s.

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

Why do you suppose that? Many are not serious practitioners and have at most a passing familiarity with Dharma. Kirt I am sure that anybody brought up in a Buddhist culture will have more than a passing familiarity with (at least) the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, that alone means...

When Rinpoche says:
The practice of Guru Drakphur we do is a combination of GD of Namcho and of Heka Lingpa....

What does this mean? A mixture? I don' think so.
A combination of the visualisation during mantra-recitation, or what else?
Where does he say that?

Re: Yes, you need a teacher.

But my experience has been that just listening to the text being read out (even in a language that I don't understand) actually made the text easier to comprehend. Don't ask me how this works, I have no idea, but it does work. I have had the same experience, though I can't remember what text it was...

Thanks for sharing PC. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to meet Lama Dawa. I almost went to Khandro Kunzang's Vajra Armour retreat in Germany this year, circumstances prevented me in the end.
