Not tryna argue or anything but Dzogchen really is an independent yana though. Longchenpa: In this regard, let me define precisely a secret key point specific to the heart drop approach. When appearances manifest, when thoughts arise, or at any other time, you recognize bare awareness [rig pa] in a...

Re: "highest practices" and anti-intellectualism

If you rest in the natural state, it is Dzogchen. If you do that during a sadhana or a prayer or while picking apples or going to the toilet it is all the same genuine Dzogchen practice. Yeah and this is precisely why I don't understand what you guys are arguing about. Well, it's something to do, a...

Re: "highest practices" and anti-intellectualism

It's not just you mate. I also think that those making these platitudes should go ask their teachers why they are practicing and teaching Yoga practices, given how much of a god-awful obstacle they are to the realisation of Dzogchen and then come back and report to us what their teacher answered. I...

Re: Don't pay for Dharma Books?

Stealing a book maybe, but the Dharma cannot be filched. In Vajrayāna, taking a Vajrayāna book for which you do not have transmission is considered stealing the Dharma. If so, then we are practically all Dharma thieves since I very much doubt that none of use have in their entire lifetime read no b...

Re: Hara

Hara/dantien is quite real (though the meaning is different in different contexts). But it's something that has to be built (this goes for both some (internal) martial arts as well as some Daoist practices, don't know about its importance in Zen). I wonder what proof there is that it is real. I do ...

I don't think it was this streamlined: https://www.ashleymadison.com OK. It is a website which helps people have affairs, including extra-marital ones. What exactly is so horribly offensive here? Pre-invasion Tibet didn't have websites like that. Sometimes I think how interesting it would've been i...

No problem, and I think we agree. Meeting a teacher in person, even if not receiving formal empowerment, is good. Receiving empowerment, and then meeting with teacher, afterward, and as needed, is better! As for what a true and complete Wangkur is, that depends on the system one is practicing.....i...

Gyurme Kundrol, While one can readily tell the difference between sounds from outside and one's own thoughts, how could one tell that a thought is from somebody else? Increased sensitivity. Just like how someone who actually hears sounds and voices in their heads as audible things can learn in time...
