Re: Don't pay for Dharma Books?

Stealing a book maybe, but the Dharma cannot be filched. In Vajrayāna, taking a Vajrayāna book for which you do not have transmission is considered stealing the Dharma. If so, then we are practically all Dharma thieves since I very much doubt that none of use have in their entire lifetime read no b...

Re: Hara

Hara/dantien is quite real (though the meaning is different in different contexts). But it's something that has to be built (this goes for both some (internal) martial arts as well as some Daoist practices, don't know about its importance in Zen). I wonder what proof there is that it is real. I do ...

I don't think it was this streamlined: https://www.ashleymadison.com OK. It is a website which helps people have affairs, including extra-marital ones. What exactly is so horribly offensive here? Pre-invasion Tibet didn't have websites like that. Sometimes I think how interesting it would've been i...

Re: More on recorded empowerments, etc.

No problem, and I think we agree. Meeting a teacher in person, even if not receiving formal empowerment, is good. Receiving empowerment, and then meeting with teacher, afterward, and as needed, is better! As for what a true and complete Wangkur is, that depends on the system one is practicing.....i...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

with regard to the upcoming (starting tomorrow) webcast: Is there a publication coming out involving (or including) this tantra? Of course receiving the transmission on its own is important. I also wonder if it's intended to make certain studies and practices possible in the future too. after makin...

Re: More on recorded empowerments, etc.

Gyurme Kundrol, While one can readily tell the difference between sounds from outside and one's own thoughts, how could one tell that a thought is from somebody else? Increased sensitivity. Just like how someone who actually hears sounds and voices in their heads as audible things can learn in time...

Re: More on recorded empowerments, etc.

I personally think, and this might just be my limited and mistaken view, that it's much harder to do a webcasted empowerment for the student. Because you are normally in your own home, maybe you haven't prepared properly enough (getting into the right "setting" etc.). Maybe there are many...

Re: More on recorded empowerments, etc.

For other specific things, including Major WangKurs, I don't think it's possible. Judging from comments on this thread, CNNR also doesn't think certain things are possible via Webcast, either. Never mind atempts to receive transmission from a recording. People who think they can obtain a true and c...

Re: More on recorded empowerments, etc.

Frankly, it saddens me that we even have to have these discussions about "broadcast" and "Recorded" empowerments. People should strive to attend in person, physically, some sort of complete Wangkur, for a practice, or with a guru, with which/whome they feel a connection. What sa...

Re: Highest Yoga Tantra and why I need Empowerments

Why would you need to publicly tell somebody about which empowerments you have received (HYT or otherwise) anyway? Really. What could possibly be one's motivation for doing so? I mean to tell a lama in order to request a practice. Okay. To talk with a Vajra sibling about your (and their) practice. ...

Re: Highest Yoga Tantra and why I need Empowerments

Should add a PS that you should keep your HYT empowerments and practices secret. Don't go around making public announcements like this one. Actually, is it true that one should keep the mere fact of having received a given HYT empowerment secret? This was not mentioned at the ones that I have recei...
