Re: Do you get rid of suffering for good with Dzogchen ?
I have a question. In the Dzogchen model, at what point or stage does suffering totally disappears or greatly reduce with no possibility of regression even if one totally stops practicing sitting meditation or altering his own perception (maintinig rigpa or anything) Here is what I mean by sufferin...

Re: Kuntuzangpo prayer
Your level of faith determines the level of benefits you receive. If you see the Guru as a Buddha, then you will get the benefits from listening to this aspiration prayer the same as hearing Buddha recite it. If yu see the Guru as an ordinary person, you get the benefits of hearing an ordinary pers...

Re: Wang for "Künzang Gongpa Zangthal" from Taklung T.R. - what is is for?
Never had this cycle, but it seems to be that. The entire cycle would be a lot of empowerments. Makes sense I guess. Thanks for pointing it out. Yes. There were seven, IIRC. Btw, you can write the monastery and ask them which specific empowerments you received, if you weren't in Tehachapi. It seems...

Re: Wang for "Künzang Gongpa Zangthal" from Taklung T.R. - what is is for?
Hello, in 2014 I received an empowerment from Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche called "Kunsang gongpa zangthal gyi tagdrol". This was my only opportunity to meet this precious master and I am very grateful for this empowerment, which is why I would like to understand it more. This is also my only...

Look people, let us not overestimate the efficacy of pilgrimage and offerings. These are beneficial practices, and/but they are not exclusively Buddhist practices. All religions have pilgrimage and offerings as part of their practice. According to some of the "logic" being bandied about a...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
The ego is a slippery thing. IME, it's all too easy to think you're doing the right job when, in fact, you are coasting. But I agree, becoming one's Teacher's zhabji is not the only way to gain accomplishment. There are plenty of stories of students getting a teaching and then going off to practice...

Re: Rigpa vs. Alaya (continued)
PS One can search Malcolm's posts on rigpa, gzhi and alaya. It's really simple. PPS Primordially pure as applied to the field of ignorance really only signifies what is unmade, as in, no one created it. But alaya is an obscuring factor until the moment of complete buddhahood, which comes at the body...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
The role of the Teacher is not just to transmit texts and comment on them. For that, YouTube, Zoom, etc. may be acceptable. However, IME, it's important to be with the Teacher as much as possible (as long as you don't get burnt in the process). As the Teacher really gets to know you, He or She can ...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
For most so-called practitioners this fancy talk feels like a victory. Anyone can fake it online with chains of quotes. Devotion doesn't need a lot of verses. Most often this kind of talk is just masking a lazy practice. I am not saying that I am Saraha, I am merely comparing what the siddhas (the ...

Yeah, I am sure he did. And he met and debated Bodhidarma too. He also had an aerial battle around Kailash with Shiva, causing Shiva to crash into the mountain. I love this time of the year, because the Easter Bunny is going to bring me chocolate eggs! Mila referred to the whisper...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
Most students do not spot anything. They are not taught critical thought, mainly they just scoff up everything that is served up to them on a (fake) silver platter. i agree with that. we may see certain "teachers" who target almost exclusively western followers with their "teachings&...

It gets weird these days bc Vajrayana's not a lot to do with shyamatha. There're a lot of mantra, mudra, offerings, fires and dancing.
