Re: Is Nyingma much more spread than Sarma (in Europe)?

There was absolutely nobody offering wangs or teachings of any Sarma deities such as Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, Vajravarahi, Hevajra, Kalachakra and of course also not the more obscure ones such as Yamari, Chatuhpitha, or Buddhakapala. And I am sure I missed some in this list. I can assure you tha...

Re: Looking for information about this Sadhana

The story of this sādhana is apparently as follows: Then, once when many visitors came for audience [with Jamyang Khentse Wangpo], one of the three manifestations projected by Drupchen Tangtong Gyelpo in the three regions of Nga-ri, Ütsang and Doe-kham, Drupchok Tsultrim Sangpo of Gugé Rong in upper...

Re: What do you call this Longchen Nyingtik text that I have? (continued)

The short Ngondro was revealed as part of the same terma cycle as some key Throma texts. Even if there's no apparent connection with Throma, it's not just someone's arbitrary decision to lump them together.

The placement of anurakto between sutoṣyo and supoṣyo is also found in the Sarvatathāgatatattvasaṃgraha.

I'd recommend checking out Kurt Keutzer's work, he's done some interesting work on Tibetan OCR as well as applying machine learning techniques on text corpora.

There is a theory that the original form of the name was Adhīśa:

Re: Memories of lost and hidden lands

I do, and I would urge you not to waste your time. I bought a book a few years ago. Never received it. The money disappeared, and nothing else happened. I suspect the shop is dead, but for whatever reason transactions are still possible. Same thing happened to me ten years ago. The order didn't arr...

Re: Shitro for the deceased

Adzom Drukpa's Khorwa Dongtruk is also a kind of Shitro practice — in the full sadhana the deity is described as having a Shitro mandala in his body. After checking I have to correct myself, turns out I've misremembered -- the texts just describe Dongtruk as "unifying all families" (rigs ...

Not for me to say but personally I'd like to have at least the lung before attempting to practice them.

Re: Shitro for the deceased

AD's Khorwa Dongtruk's cycle is a little under 150 pages in the latest edition of his collected works and includes a full jangchok, drupchö, retreat instructions, protector practice, takdrol rite, fire offering, ganapuja, auxiliary practices, etc, all the usual stuff. But ChNN was really not into an...

Re: 2022 film about tukdam - Tukdam: Between Worlds

What's really curious about it is that the project was supported (financed?) not only by Finnish and Irish organisations but also by the Estonian Film Institute. Estonia is a bizarre country. Their native populations is less than 1 million but they have their own language, film, theatre, higher edu...

Re: Translations of Longchenpa's Trilogy of Natural Freedom

It appears that only the first part, Natural Freedom of the Nature of Mind, has been translated into a Western language or at least English, while the other two, the Natural Freedom of Reality and the Natural Freedom of Sameness, have never been, even though they are among his major works. There is...

Since the root texts of the trilogy are included in the gDams ngag mdzod, they will hopefully be translated in Tsadra's Treasury of Precious Instructions series.

The abhiṣeka of five-deity Kurukullā associated with this text can be found e.g. in the Gyüde Küntü, a Sakyapa collection. I don't think it is given very often.

It is not certain that bhaṅgodaka here refers to cannabis. According to Zysk:

It's also possible that bhaṅga simply refers to "shredded leaves."

But how does he get identified as bein "the same" deity as Amitabha. Is it due to both of them belonging to the Lotus family? Or does it come from the sutra tradition?
Indeed from Sūtra: Amitābha and Amitāyus are identified as being the same in the Sukhavatīvyūha.
