As have others such as Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche.
Indeed. I'll put a link to this old piece on Kalu R here for reference. Those colorful Tibetan monasteries don't look quite the same after reading it.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I would like some clarification on mantra of six spaces. In most sources it say`s A A SHA SA MA HA, yet N.N.Norbu Rinpoche uses Ha A HA SHA SA MA, can anyone tell me what`s the reason behind that, is it from different termas? I would welcome some explanation. Thnx Rinpoche's version is found in Cha...

Re: Which book on meditation would you recommend?

Typo on my phone. I meant dhyanas. In Theravada they have 8 or 9 jhanas. Dhyana is the Sanskrit equivalent. Are they similar in Mahayana and Vajrayana? Dhyāna in Sanskrit = Jhāna in Pali. Same thing in Mahāyāna and Śrāvakayāna. The nine stages of śamatha you see in Mahāyāna are preparatory stages b...

A kind of otherkin or something like them were around in the Buddha's time, too. He (reluctantly) once discussed these people.

Re: Diets are dumb

Here's what the Buddha taught on dieting. When seeing the fat king Prasenajit overeating, he did recommend him a kind of diet, "mindfulness of the proper amount of food", so to speak.

His verse reminds me of modern scientific results on the effects of caloric restriction on longevity.

The Namchö Shitro or the Longsal Ngöndro. Of course, one can always do just the 100-syllable mantra as well.

Re: Chhinamunda / Vajrayogini?

Does anyone know if Chinnamunda sadhanas are still practiced in the Tibetan Vajrayana at all? Or at any point in the last 800 years? Yes. AFAIK, her empowerment from the Virupa tradition was given in the US in 2014 by HH the Sakya Trizin, for example. Her practice is also transmitted as part of the...

Re: Confused - why are there 5 translations for "mountain"?

Hi all - I have been scouring the internet for a GTibetan translation of the word mountain, and have come up with 5. Can someone please tell me which is the most accurate, and also why there are so many? Here they are: མོཨུནཏཻན རི ཀ་ཏ་ཀི གངས ལ Thanks in advance :) རི is correct. The first is a tran...

All great suggestions, I too second Kongtrul's bio in particular. I'll add A Saint in Seattle,
The Life of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, and Enlightened Rainbows (the last link is to a pirate site but as far as I understand the author is OK with that mode of distribution).
