Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

Because without a teacher one must rely on one’s own faulty awareness as one’s guide. Unawareness will always interpret Dharma as something other than what it is. All practitioner must develop for oneself correct mindfulness (samyaksmrti) and wise attention (yonisomanaskara). But I think you mean r...

Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

so, there is a difference between reading instructions in a book and receiving instructions directly from a teacher, isn't it!? Is there a difference between writing and speaking? "Since they maintain they have no need of written words, they should not speak either, because written words are merely...

Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

... and in order to do so, you have to receive the instructions of a teacher to be able to do it, right? Dahui's letters are filled with instructions. But of course it might help to hear the same repeated from the high seat. so, there is a difference between reading instructions in a book and recei...

Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

Ultimately without teacher there is no zen practice ... "I just believe that this matter can’t be transmitted and can’t be learned. You must realize on your own, awaken on your own, affirm on your own, stop-to-rest on your own, and then you will for the first time get to the end of things." (Letter...

Re: US and Allies Launch Strikes on Syria

Malcolm, with all due respect, but I think here you're wrong, and in my opinion it does not have anything to do with far-right/left conspiracy theory. There is a Swiss historian who is doing research on the "deep state" (among others), unfortunately I can't find any source of his research in English...

Re: The world is getting worse and worse

There are some thing's in the world that are improving. However, there are MORE things which are getting worse. The things which are getting worse, are very serious issues that could spell disaster for our entire species. [Overpopulation] A very serious one. One which threatens us with extinction i...

Good luck finding the empty nature of dharmas, though. [Malcolm] When you don't find it, you have found it. I've been searching for years... I must be getting close. [Malcolm] If you are still searching, you haven't found it. An Account of the Tiāntāi Synthesis An Account of the Tiāntāi Synthesis

Re: Illuminating Quotes by Malcolm Namdrol-la

Impure vision is trekchö; pure vision is thögal. However, with the latter there is nothing you have to transform. You just have to get really, really, good at integrating with impure vision (trekchö) before you are generally given instructions (thögal) on how to allow pure vision to naturally unfol...

Re: Schizophrenia and parenthood

It is doubtful, if parents-to-be can really judge about the reduction of suffering for their child. I still think, concentrating on the shortcomings of the child is wrong thinking. The question if the parents are willing and have the ability to raise a child is more important, I believe. Schizophre...
