It may seem selfish, but if it is possible.

This is perhaps a strange request and I do not mean to be disruptive. I did enjoy my time here and it was of great benefit to me. The request I make is one that is often made by contentious people who, in fits of impassioned emotion, only wish to cause further contention. My intent, however, is quit...

Re: Goodbye for now.

I am back and can share dhamma again, I think... So long as I don't get too carried away. On Dhammawheel, I have a 3-post a day rule. Same thing will apply here. I hope you are met with kindness and compassion. :) Yes, I met her. I wish she would have stayed for much longer, though. Wow. What a wond...

Goodbye for now.

I've decided to take up Tibetan Buddhism. And for whatever reason, I've decided to abstain from discussing dhamma for a while. However, I've started a blog: http://iamsopre.posterous.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If you are one of the rare people who can appreciate my...

I'm not sure what to recommend that would be in line with what you're wanting to accomplish Well, you won't know until you recommend it. This song in particular has had me open for days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sua-wexycdk&feature=related Hope you enjoy. ' I like Bonobo. Here is a song t...

Re: I went to the Tibetan temple, talked to the monk.

For now, though, I definitely want less excitement in my life. I feel like sitting in the house all day and doing nothing but meditating and cleaning. Because it's like every time I go outside in my car somewhere to drive, suddenly I'm thrown into catastrophic situations where my life is in peril an...

Re: I went to the Tibetan temple, talked to the monk.

I found what I was looking for. I discovered all the secrets of Vajrayana without taking samaya. Not sure if I should say it, but it would just be gibberish anyway. A poem perhaps that may explain the quickest method to Buddhahood: The viper waits and strikes at the right moment. The woman teases th...

Re: The Music of Samsara

What is your motivation for doing this? What do you wish to accomplish? Well, I listen to music anyway, so I thought, "Why not listen to better music?" Nowadays, my sensual desires are different. I don't like specific ones. I like the flow of things. In my CD player, when one CD finishes,...

Re: I went to the Tibetan temple, talked to the monk.

but the way i see it, it is the world that is not ready for me What exactly do you mean by this? If you're implying that others haven't had the same experience as you in terms of taking on a Guru, I think you'd be surprised. Choosing the right Guru for oneself isn't to be taken lightly, and most pe...

Re: Pacing the mind with the body

Just like the people above... Today, I abused the body for the sake of the mind. Not with knives and fire -- but with work and dharma.

But it was only one day.

I have to be careful. If I keep this up, I'll die earlier than I need to. Guess I just need to be mindful.

The Music of Samsara

In my mom's car, there is a six-CD player.

I want to burn six CDs -- one CD for each realm of samsara. Each realm isn't its own genre... Hip hop could be animal realm or asura realm, for instance. Or even deva realm.

Any suggestions?

Magical thinking sometimes also results in magical realities, believe it or not.

Re: Do Mahayana texts ponder these things?

Buddhism is wisdom. Right? Science is knowledge. All of Buddhism is upaya in order to free beings from samsara. Buddhism itself is not wisdom (not directly). It is using poison (conceptuality and a refined view) to ultimately free beings. Science is knowledge of the relative phenomenal world. This ...

Re: Do Mahayana texts ponder these things?

Time, gravity, light, karma; these four things seem inexplicably linked in a way I don't fully understand but vaguely imagine. Buddhism has different theories of time. In general I will favor science over Buddhism on this one though. Just as Shakyamnui Buddha did not come to this world to teach geo...

Re: Pacing the mind with the body

As practical examples, by the way... There's a Theravadin monk named Dhammanando who used to post at our sister-site, Dhammawheel. He was extraordinary -- he only slept a few hours a night, then it was just constant work. He got malaria several times. I worry that one day a great man like him will d...

Re: Do Mahayana texts ponder these things?

What you say about practicality is true. For me it somehow began to be true and have practical consequences, -the stuff of Nagarjuna that is-, after many years of finding it useless and nonconsequental. It becomes valuable if you study it long enough... About Jhana: Jhana is Dhyana, that is Chan, t...

Pacing the mind with the body

In my experience, it is possible for the mind to not keep pace with the body. For the average person, the mind is not as strong as the body. The body can do so much, but concentration is lacking, so there is laziness and other fetters. But in very peculiar cases, there is also the opposite: with pow...

Re: I went to the Tibetan temple, talked to the monk.

I asked that this thread be deleted, but the moderator asked that I consider it. I was going to reply to this with a PM, but I thought it would be better that I post it here. I know you tend to pour out your thoughts and sometimes regret it, so maybe its worth typing them into a blog rather than a t...
