Re: King of the Empty Plain

Listen, my son, learned and venerable Delek Pal! Obscured before by the darkness of ignorance, thoughts to practice Dharma were mixed with the eight worldly concerns. To achieve the aims of future lives, trust in these thoughts of practice. Completely drop the aims of this life! Serenely release at...

Re: King of the Empty Plain

Then the great adept went to Amdar Shong and was given fine offerings and honors. He gave the entrustment of pure awareness for Avalokiteshvara in the market. He told the parents of three mute children in the rows of the initiation, “Bring your three sons here!” When they arrived before him, he poi...

Re: King of the Empty Plain

This noble Mahasiddha faced much hostility, although most regretted it later. He arrived in Dartsedo. Ten men of the same clan in that region had joined together and were killing one man. The great adept said, “If an equal number of men fight, the difference in their courage can be known. It doesn’t...

Reading it again now - from pp. 310-11: Homage to you, Mahākarunika, who compassionately loves countless living beings, who has assumed the role of a mighty spiritual son of the conquerors on the tenth spiritual level, and who shows the path of liberation to all embodied beings. If absolutely all th...

Fire Suppression Sadhanas?

All over the West USA fire danger is growing. When people are in mortal danger is there any practice that can turn aside or stop a big fire?

City of 10 Thousand Buddhas, in Talmage California is in such peril right now.

Re: City of Ten Thousand Buddhas

Two fearsome fires are not that far from CTTB now. Any practice suggestions for fires suppression or stopping their movement in a particular direction? Just was reminded that Master Hua said: "The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is Guanyin’s Bodhimanda, with Guanyin Bodhisattva in the primary position ...

Re: Boys Freed From Thai Cave Enter Monkhood to Honor Fallen Rescuer

Wow, touching for sure. But, I'm glad they're becoming novice monks, as I imagine they have a lot of living to do before making such a serious commitment. It is a temporary, yet traditional passage for most Thai men. Not sure, but the article seemed to suggest they will all (save the Xtian boy) spe...

I wish to marry a Dakini. Please pray for me and recite mantras for me and dedicate merit to me so that I may receive my wish. Thank you kindly. I suspect that both your future wife and you would be content to have a marriage based on deep personal love for each other and solid shar...

Is this a related translation? I thought you were talking about this document, but this is from the 80s I just noticed.

Yes, often times a thesis is the basis for a book that comes later. So Bocking probably tinkered with it a bit for the book version.

Re: Free Online Qualified Translations of Lama Tsongkhapa's work

Found that Lama Zopa has a long video commentary that includes this text.

Another translation of the title is - Mind Training in Ornamental Words. Still looking for another translation besides the "27 Verses" one from Hixon's book.

Not sure who translated these verses on lojong, which appeared in Lex Hixon's book. If anyone knows of another version to compare, let us know.

Re: Aspiration of Maitreya Bodhisattva

Mendong Tshampa Rinpoche mentions another commentary, that has never been translated in English, as far as I know.
The great pandita Shakya Chokden gave a wondrous commentarial explanation that combined together the Mahayanasutralamkara and this aspiration prayer.
