Re: Shakyamuni and bodhisattva vow

Shakyamuni Buddha never took that vow AFAIK. In Lalitavistara Sutra he was reminded several times about his past lives bodhisattva vows, so I assume he lived as he vowed. Here are musical tones giving an early reminder to him: “In the past you gave away your exquisite wealth and riches, And even yo...

Re: What happened to Buddhanet.net

I have no access either to that link. Nor have I. None of the search results I found on DuckDuckGo seem to work either. A search found their FB page - https://www.facebook.com/pg/buddhanet.net/about/?ref=page_internal - which was last updated three weeks ago, but the link to the site from that page...

Re: What happened to Buddhanet.net

They do not include 'anything' in their e-book offerings. Matter of fact I found no NKT books listed. They seem to prefer Chinese Mahayana & Theravadin, with a few from FPMT. http://www.buddhanet.net/ebooks_m.htm It seems you don't understand what I am saying. I am not talking about ebooks at all. ...

Re: Preparing for Ordination

DRBA founded by Master Hsuan Hua had 30+ Western bhikshus & bhikshunis starting around 1968. At present there may be only a handful left, not sure if any new ones have ordained since his death in 1995. FPMT has the most? and Zopa Rimpoche seems a good leader (but getting old). The other Tibetan mona...

I tried to download the two volumes of the Dīrgha Āgama but both had broken links. They are, however, available from the Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20171121035515/http://www.bdkamerica.org/system/files/pdf/dBET_T0001_LengthyDiscourses1_2015.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20171121...

Here is Rulu's version:
All Buddhas know that the entire dharma realm is like the god-king Indra’s net, which comprises countless interwoven reflections, with no exception.

Re: Special Days

Friday November 10 2017 is one of the year's four main Buddhist holy days, Lhabab Duchen, celebrated as the day Guru Shakyamuni Buddha descended from the God Realm of Thirty-Three after teaching his mother and the gods living there Dharma for several months. As such, it is known as a Buddha Multipl...

AMIENS (sings) Blow, blow, thou winter wind. Thou art not so unkind As man’s ingratitude. Thy tooth is not so keen, Because thou art not seen, Although thy breath be rude. Heigh-ho, sing heigh-ho, unto the green holly. Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly. Then heigh-ho, the holly. T...

Re: Nagrim translations

Thanks for paying attention and trying L.C. :thanks:

That complete text is probably too deep for nearly everyone in the West. But perhaps some Tibetan reader will pop up to answer this:
Will anyone supply a short summary of the untranslated chapters?
Which are 5-10 & 13 - I think.

There was a new translation released this year of all the volumes, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1611803594.
Nope, that is just the old 1987 chapter one, re-titled and slightly revised. Same with the other two by Hopkins which covered the first four chapters.
