Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

There is no retreat scheduled for November. I would not assume anybody can turn up there in person and be admitted. For all we know, there may be no WWT event with Rinpoche in person at all. Any member of the DC can go to any gar any time. Sure enough. Unless the geko is very busy or out and no one...

Re: karmapa dispute and nydahl group

He was not the first Westerner authorized to teach Karma Kagyu tradition, gelongma Palmo (a.k.a Freda Bedi) was. I know Sister Palmo was highly regarded but I had not heard she was authorized to teach. Did she? I don’t think she ever did retreat. Yes, she even gave teachings to Ole and Hannah thems...

Re: karmapa dispute and nydahl group

...thinks Ole's organisation is a cult and Ole is not legit. Ole started out in the ‘70s as the first westerner to be authorized to teach in the Karma Kagyu tradition. As H.H. Karmapa 16’s peesonal student he could give Refuge and give Dharma talks. I don’t know about his official status after HHK ...

You probably mean this refuge field: https://unikmetal.ru/prefix/0829abb48cd77123ed36b6c7fbb13346.jpg That heruka is Vajradharma - the vidyadhara heruka in outer sadhana of Dudjom Lingpa's Sangwa Desheg Dupa, which featuers the body mandala of Mohottara heruka containing other 8 herukas, though thei...

Re: Is practicing with a consort necessary in Dzogchen?

Don´t worry about consort practice, first it is extremely difficult to find qualified consort, second it is equally rare to be a qualified consort oneself. There are consort practices in dzogchen teachings, but they are of secondary importance. The main practice of dzogchen does not require consort....

Re: Ngondzog Gyalpo purpose?

Ngondzok Gyalpo is a deity's name that appears in different places, diiferent mandalas, including in Chogling's Tukdrup Barchay Kunsel, and in some ShiTro pratices, where I think the name is equivalent to Chemchok Heruka. It's also the main yidam deity in the system of Dzogchen LongDe. In general, ...

Re: Tibetan parallel to Satipatthana sutta et al

So, does anyone know if there is a parallel Tibetan text to the Pali Satipatthana sutta and if so where is it found? I don´t think there is. Majority of hinayana material in Tibetan cannon comes from Sarvastivadin Sanskrit cannon, though they did add a small portion of material from Pali cannon lat...

Re: Chogyal Rinpoche

I met him in 2007, when he was in Europe as a part of entourage of Karmapa Thaye Dorje. He gave a short lecture in Prague and met with some social workers to seek advice on how to proceed with his orphanage project. He seemed like good person, but my experience was with him was limited. He does a lo...

Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

Another glaring hole in his presentation was there was no mention of patriarchy, the unequal status of woman in the Dharma, sexist attitudes towards woman that is rampant in Vajrayāna circles (the dakini/whore complex), Tibetan privilege (yes, it is a problem), and so on. M I don´t mean to say that...

Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

Well guess who is not in retreat right now (me too, you guessed right, but also...)
Sogyal is lecturing at The Seventh World Youth Buddhist Symposium in Thailand, apparently, the news of his scandal have not reached there.

If he had realization then he would have acted differently. I am not trying to defend the notion that SR has realization but it is interesting to note the following passage from http://all-otr.org/public-talks/1-following-the-dzogchen-path : ... Sogyal Rinpoche’s level of practice is extremely high...

Re: Very sad news

I read the letter, and I found the conclusion of the letter, whith all respect to its authors, a little naive. The man has been in this game for decades so who could expect him to change his behaviour? So now he goes for the retreat, just as he has done over a decade ago, when one of his scandals bl...

Re: Correct days to practice Sojong

You can do sojong at any time. If for example I would break one of my vows, then it is best for me to confess and correct immediately, or within one day. The "dates" for sojong come from monastic tradition, where in monasteries it is more practical to do it in group setting, but for laymen this is n...

You funny too." Yep I know of bronies and furries, but this particular fad is taking it one step further. Anyway a...

With this branch could make a reforestation. :namaste: Yep, they should cut up the fallen branch and root the cuttings. I hope they do. Some people on the internetz were asking whether it is some bad omen, but in fact this sort of thing happens on old ficus trees all the time. When the branch has g...

Re: Bhutanese Buddhism ans teachers

Gyaltsen Rinpoche, who is a holder of Shakya Shri´s lineage, has a group of very dedicated yogis, who practice in Milarepa´s style in the mountains of Bhutan and others who are in retreat centers. Rinpoche also initiated a project of ngagdra for Kagyu practitioners focusing on Hevajra tantra - his e...

Actually it is Brahmanarupa Mahakala.

The first one appears to be Luipa, though usually Luipa is depicted with fish entrails in his left hand, sometimes he is depicted with kapala.

Re: The White-Robed, Dreadlocked Community

Interesting and informative arcticle. Though I am not sure about the following interpretation: The perspective of the tantras is clear: a senior ngakpa or tantrika is superior to a gelong (vow-holding monastic). The Aruli tantra states: “Obtaining the vase empowerment is (the level of) a gennyen (la...

Re: rechung nyengyu

That is why in my opinion, secret mantra should not be taught to lay people and monastics, but almost exclusively to yogis - ngagpas, repas, naljorpas and their female counterparts. Lay people have no time to practice it properly, monastic sangha has restrictions that do not allow them to practice ...
