Maybe that society values 'knowledge' and 'education' so much is why the religious people of modern times feel the need to know theology.

What is your defintion of "well-adjusted" ?
Mentally and emotionally stable. Well socialized. Owns at most only a few cats.

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

In general, many of the westerners who are involved in tibetan buddhism are not well-adjusted people.
Naturally this will bring alot of problems.

Re: Chhinamunda / Vajrayogini?

I was just looking at Miranda Shaw's Goddess book and it includes a chapter devoted to this goddess. She traces the goddess back to the mahasiddha laksminkara. It is worth reading it if you are interested, but she does cite one teacher who, as per the tos: shall-not-be-named.

Re: Lungta/Prayer Flags

Ok, I agree that the time of putting them up is important. I've always tried for the morning of "PF days" based on my calendar. Mornings better? Same as later in the day? I disagree that making them is simple, although buying them is definitely an option. The designs seem traditional, precise, and ...

Re: Karmic accrual and Momentariness

What I meant was: Lord Buddha did not define the length of time that a "moment" was. No definition prior to the Theravada interpolation exists. Does it? My concern is "How momentary is momentary?" and "What did Shakyamuni Buddha teach regarding the time span of this momentariness?" I can't tell you...

In my estimation making the flags would be pretty simple, one could even buy them. But knowing when and where to hang them: thats most important!
