Re: Dzogchen and Free Will

Also, I forgot to mention, that it’s true that you are cared for in this space. Meaning that my life and actions run smoothly and sensibly. I just watch it happen. “...here sentient beings are cared for, And without any exertion we live in ease.” Did you get your teachings from a live Dzogchen teac...

Re: Flu Season

Teas work for me. Usually I take shilajit tonic or chamomile and mint tea with lemon. You can easily purchase those on the net and teas can be found in the majority of grocery stores. Still, I believe flu shots shouldn't be taken out of the consideration since if the condition worsens, teas and ton...

Re: Buddhism and Parapsychology

Oh no. No misunderstanding. My proper concern actually isn't with whether or not to accept rebirth. It is about the relationship between Buddhism and the teachings of the historical Buddha (so far as we can understand them). What do you consider the teachings of the historical Buddha?

Dad's sick again in the hospital, with increasing frequency over the past months.

Your prayers and practice in any capacity are appreciated.

Nonduality is just another extreme in Dzogchen.
Meaning that ‘reality’ is neither dualistic, nor nondualistic, nor both, nor neither.
Yup.Reality. This is well explained in the Rigpa Rangshar.

Re: Experience

Direct experience is emphasized so much because it's our own distinct mind streams that we are seeking to untangle from the above web of confused thinking and reactions that perpetuate samsara. If we don't experience appearances of the senses and mind with the wisdom that directly cognozed their na...

Of course, sangha as a generic terms means all Buddhist practitioners, ordained and lay, male and female, Realized and unrealized. However, in terms of taking refuge, we take refuge only in the Arya Sangha, which means those on the bhumis.

Re: Taking Stock of Practice

Rereading my posting (to which you replied), it might look like I said that metta is an obstacle. But that's not what I meant! Rather, that the psychological drive towards not-metta <selfishness> is. Yes, I have a living teacher, and we've talked some about the cultivation of bodhicitta. Have you r...

Re: Taking Stock of Practice

If, instead, I had been taught, from the get-go, that Buddhism (Advaita, Taoism, whatever) would improve the quality of my life and the lives of the people I touch, modestly, not explosively ... I'd be much much more content with my progress along the path. The quality of ripples made by a rock dro...

Yes, however even though Yongdzin Rinpoche will give Dzogchen Teaching to those who have not yet done Tantra Ngondro, and even though he says that one can skip Yidam practice; he still says that in general his students should do the Tantric Ngondro and the Special Preliminaries of Dzogchen before m...

Re: Visualisations and Dzogchen

Exactly! "They arise and self-liberate effortlessly" from the Dharmakaya. So why discuss this one way or the other? Do, don't do. They neither improve nor detract from the natural state. However, they may illusorily benefit illusory sentient beings by dispelling illusory suffering and generating il...

Hi, have you reviews on Christopher Wilkinson translations of the Dzogchen 17/18 Tantras? i saw that he translated a lot, but since this is an enormous amount of work i doubted of the quality of translations. Please, i'm not trying to critizise, just want to know which style (interpretative, mostly...

Re: Taking Stock of Practice

I honestly don't think it's a problem of relying too much on discursive analysis. It's that my behaviours, my 'persona', is still very undisciplined and self-centred - just as it was in youth. I don't do what I know I must do, and I do things I know I ought not to. I suppose I expected that there w...
