Re: My Bodhi seed wrist mala color detereoriating

What I've been told and have seen when surfing the web (fueling my attachment to malas) is that with use, the bodhi seed will become smaller and darken due to the oils in your hands. I was at a trade show where they were selling new natural bodhi seed for around $50 and then antique Bodhi Seed Malas...

Re: Yamantaka with Protection Sphere

This looks interesting. Can someone give an explanation or is it a secret practice?

Re: Chödpa Lama Rinpoche

What Chöd does Chödpa Lama Rinpoche teach? Is it from his family tradition or is it a Karma Kagyu Chöd learned from Tenga Rinpoche? Does he ever come to America to teach?

Thank you for any answers! :anjali:

White Kechari of Terchen Barway Dorje

I recieved the White Kechari Empowerment from Bardor Tulku Rinpoche not too long ago but he gave no explanation of the Vajrayogini mantra or if there's a specific Mantra for the White Kechari. I'd like to learn it just to keep samaya with such a wonderful teacher.

Many thanks for any help.

Re: For the Wanderers: Mingyur Rinpoche's Wanderings

I'm hoping he'll have many stories to tell and maybe even tips for anyone else wishing to do this. Either way I'm glad he's back. He's been a favorite teacher of mine since reading The Joy of Living. Quick question in regards to Chöd. I know he has his own system of training people but has anyone ac...

Re: Serkyem Question

In my center we put the Serkyem on the right side with grains and a bit of tea not over-flowing the the lower dish. But my question is as to whether there is any particular prayer or practice or protocol when offering the serkyem as I believe there's one for Chogyal Namkhai Norbu has made.

Serkyem Question

I have received a serkyem. Does anyone know if, within the Karma Kagyu, there is a protocol or ritual to offering a serkyem on the shrine? Or whether there's anything about it in the Chokling Tersar commonly used in the Karma Kamtsang? Or is it associated with Dharma Protector's practice and reserve...

Medicine Buddha Sutra in Tibetan

Hello! Can anyone direct me to the Medicine Buddha Sutra in Tibetan? Most preferably in a link to TBRC? I don't know much Tibetan but I'd like to use it as my Shrine Text and maybe translate it myself to get a better understanding of the language as I've been doing with a couple of short texts from ...

Re: Chödpa Lama Rinpoche

Does anyone know if he's okay? He's in Nepal and I messaged him and got a reply just before the earthquake. His Facebook messenger status says he was active just before the quake. I just pray he's okay and just doing what he can for the others.

Re: The Politics of Tibetan Buddhism

Excellent responses! Thank you all for your input, it has really helped me whether it's knowing I'm not the only one that gets fazed by it or offering your opinion. I do forget there is a difference between BuddhaDharma and Buddhism a lot of the time but I will keep it in mind whenever I read someth...

The Politics of Tibetan Buddhism

I am bothered by the politics of Tibetan Buddhism. Reading all those splits and who's who and what's what really tends to put my head on a spin, questioning if who I'm studying from is legitimate or not. :toilet: I don't want to be discredited because of who I follow if I practice well enough (which...

Re: My Simple Shrine

I like the cabinet style, alot of japanese people have shrines like that. I'm thinking of trying to find one like that for us since we are probably moving soon. Also- props for having the text on the right side! Thanks! I made this cabinet when I was still practicing Zen so that's why it has a Japa...

My Simple Shrine

Thanks to a few good Dharma friends and online research, this is my Shrine as of now. The rupa of Shakyamuni was saved from an Antique show there many Dharma things were sold at a stand from China. Green Tara was given as a gift for inviting the Relic Tour. The Bowls were from a person feeling extra...

Re: Requesting a Teaching

Thank you all for the great advice! I will definitely try to get the Chöd empowerments. The closest thing I've gotten to anything is permission to read the Chöd Practice Manual and Commentary by the 14th Karmapa and Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye. This has greatly strengthened my resolve to practice it...

Re: Requesting a Teaching

Thanks for moving my question, Ayu! I'm in northeastern Florida at the moment Jacksonville to be more specific. There's a wonderful Karma Thegsum Chöling here and is where I received refuge but I haven't see many teachers come through here. The resident lama travels to groups that doesn't have a lam...

Requesting a Teaching

Hello All! I have had great trouble in contacting teachers and requesting teachings from them. I don't know what it is. I've been wanting to practice Chod for a while now and I've contacted a couple of teachers on this regard to no avail, no reply. Also, I've gotten permission to receive something f...

Hello from Florida!!!

Hello All! I am pleased to be a part of such a large and knowledgeable community! I'm Javier. I've been a practising Buddhist for over 3-4 years. I've started with Zen Buddhism of the Soto Sect when I was still in high school. In April of last year, I took refuge in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibe...
