Christian practises/Creating mindset no matter which object

I seem to remember to have read a couple of books (or maybe heard a teacher explain) that it is not so much about the object that creates a mindset in us but more about the mindset. If a Christian feels compassion/warmth/goodheartedness when thinking about Maria it is similar that when we meditate o...

Is there a Tangkha/Painting with Rinpoche on it available somewhere?

A digital version maybe?

Re: First teachers coming to Tibet

How do we know that it only survived there vs was developed there?

Not meant as an attack, I would just like to understand the reasoning behind it.

First teachers coming to Tibet

Hello, Did the first teachers who brought Buddhism to Tibet alter it to suit the needs, mindset and existing culture of the Tibetans so they could accept and train in it more easily? Is there something academic where I can read this kind of subject? Is there something I could read to make me underst...

Re: Looking for a practise in Chokyi Nyima Rinpoches lineage

A few months ago I had the luck to meet Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche while he was in Europe. Now I would like to start some daily practises that they do in that lineage. Where could I found about such things? When I was there, there was a certain kind of morning practise, I wonder if I could get an PDF/au...

Re: Falling sick from a practise?

I am not familiar with any practice like this. It sounds like too much prana was moving upward, which is what caused the headache, and other symptoms. I would discontinue this practice (sounds like you have already), take rest, have some warm ghee or butter and some warm milk, rest and relax for a ...

Re: Falling sick from a practise?

It is a bad idea to do practices of this kind on the instructions of random people. Any kind of practice actually. I actually did not plan to do such practise. The course was just announced as meditation. When the beginning felt familiar I thought lets just do it. When the part with the energy up c...

Falling sick from a practise?

I moved to a new city. Yesterday went to the Buddhist center in that city. The class was anounced as "Meditation", no special requirements. I go there and 2 minutes later the practise starts. At first it was all nice and similar to what I know. Then we imagine light from navel going up, th...

Practise to recall past incarnations

Are there ways to recall past incarnations?

Any buddhist or non-budhdist practises with that goal in mind?

Curious if it would be helpful for learning seeing outcomes of situations, actions and their reactions, consequences.

linking negative experiences with positive ones

I have been reading 'Hardwiring Happiness' a book by Rick Hanson. In it he mentions a 4 step process: - Have a positive experience - Enrich it - Absorb it - Link positive and negative material I'm interested in the last one, linking. He writes: While having a vivid and stable sense of a positive exp...

Chogyam Trungpa

Being too young to have experienced it myself, I have often heard "bad stories", and then some very good ones about Chogyam Trungpa only recently. Honestly I never started to read a book of him for the reason of the bad stories. I wonder, what stuff did actually happen, and what made him s...

Standing Meditation

I have read several times 'meditation can be done sitting, standing or lying down'.
Generally for the sitting and lying there are specific instructions given. What about the standing? Anybody has ever received instructions specifically on it? Or read about it?

Do you mean the book "Teachings on Shitro and Yangti" ?
