That's basically the type of thing I'm after, Malcolm. Thanks.
If Mountain Dharma has all that, then I'll get that.

Resources on Sacred Geography
Given the importance of pilgrimage and geomancy in constructing temples, placing stupas, and the like, there must be texts in the tradition on the subject of sacred geography. I"m curious as I'll meet one of my lamas and go to a place out in the wild and talk about the land, and he'll make comm...

Re: Serkyem Question
Regarding the serkyem offering... this is more of a scholastic question... but does anyone know about the origin of this offering? By that I mean the formal method of doing it with the two parts to the serkyem, etc.?

Re: An event for all Tibetan Buddhists?
There has been a Rimé monlam started in New York upstate at a very swanky new age center by some western dharma teachers who some may find uninspiring or controversial, but some good dharma teachers did come together to attend. . . mainly just those based in the surrounding areas with a few excepti...

Time For Retreat
I'm taking some extended time for retreat. One of the benefits of contract work, while it's spotty, that spottiness is good, as one can retreat. I've learned a great deal here, and I figure I have added little of value, so it's good to leave. This is a lesson of lama xxx to me. Thanks. /checks under...

Re: Riwo Sang Cho of Namkha Jigme
Thanks for the information.
I was mostly just concerned because somebody from the forum had said my practice of Riwo Sang Cho was not legitimate.
It appears this lama K. N. was probably not correct.

Re: Debunking foil-hat theories on public health
There are multiple layers of selection bias here. One is that research costs money, a lot of money. Generally agribusiness and big pharm can fund trials, and those trials generally positively favor their products. Why? Well, they simply wouldn't have been funded if they didn't. FDA approval is expen...

Re: Riwo Sang Cho of Namkha Jigme
Thanks for the responses on this. I appreciate it. I accumulate Riwo Sang Cho as a regular part of my practice. It's part of a way of mending samaya, along with ganachakra and other such practices. It's also a way of healing my place in the world. Much has happened here, and there's much to heal. I ...

Best response yet. Top shelf.

Re: Compassion vs. non-proselytism
The truth is proselytizing really doesn't work that well, unless one is being converted by the sword or to get food and medical care. Spend time in the Deep South and you'll understand. Evangelism is a way of life. Even children are brought into the evangelical project. Whole churches and missions p...

Re: Compassion vs. non-proselytism
:good: ... Ok, but if convincing would bring even better results, would that be a good thing ? Many posters seem to favor "reluctance" in communication, and I am unable to see the reason behind this. And it's not that I suggest using "force", but I wonder if "reluctance"...

Re: Compassion vs. non-proselytism
:good: Often people are simply attracted out of some inner source. They do not need to be convinced and they seem to understand many things from the beginning. Most time these people need more help to do their first steps, or some support to stay on the path they've already started. If someone is no...

Some mates who are students of ChNNR and other Nyingma lamas. They're on this gyalpo fixation. Yes. Of course that's what the text says. I was told never-the-less that the practice does not work for gyalpos. I'm trying to understand if there is basis for this, or somebody is talking nonsense. Most l...

Re: Compassion vs. non-proselytism
There's a huge difference between making the dharma available and proselytizing. I've opened the door and facilitated practice for the better part of 15 years. I see it as planting a flag or sending up flare for people who might have an interest. But that's not proselytizing. Proselytizing is gettin...

The master who taught me Riwo Sang Cho never got into the minutiae of the beastiary of beasties. I've gone through the Tibetan and it's not clear to me if gyalpos are covered. So, doing the Riwo Sang Cho of Namkha Jigme, it got me wondering about all these spirit provocations and uprisings and the l...

Riwo Sang Cho of Namkha Jigme
So, doing the Riwo Sang Cho of Namkha Jigme, it got me wondering about all these spirit provocations and uprisings and the like discussed on DW in various threads. My instructions on this practice is that Riwo Sang Cho is good for these things, but talking to a couple mates who are students of //, t...

Re: Compassion vs. non-proselytism
In Buddhism we have to liberate ourselves. If others could liberate us, then great beings would have already liberated everyone and there'd really not be much to talk about... Since we can only liberate ourselves, great beings can only give the tools of the dharma to those who have an interest in us...
