Re: What it means to be a ngakpa

i'm afraid i have to disagree with cone about developing supreme siddhi, i.e., realization, before attempting to develop common or ordinary siddhi. maybe this is a difference in p.o.v. between nyingma and karma kamtsang. various lay-jor are routinely appended to our sadhanas after completing nyen-dr...

Re: What it means to be a ngakpa

i agree with Loppon-la/Malcolm -- very little demand for ngakpa services where i live. for a number of years i have beeb trying to interest my old-time Dharma friends (and some younger ones) in all the skillful means at our disposal, but there is very, very little interest. i guess no actual belief ...

He put His mirror in a bowl of rice. He also lit a lamp or candle. He said some prayers &/or mantra and threw rice on the mirror. once the mirror was "opened," He would answer questions from different people. during the session, there was always someone to write down the answers. at he end of a sess...

depending on the practice, phra-bab/mirror divination may involve Yudronma or Tsheringma. not sure if any other Dieties are also involved with phra. these are the two that i know of. best/easiest if you are born with phra-mig/phra eyes. this tends to run in families. don't know about using prepubesc...

they are "cultured" by making a "mother" substance. then a little of this "starter" is added to make more. this is common with a number of different substances in vajrayana, such as beb-dze/descent-substance for jen-dren/invitation.

Re: The world is getting worse and worse

yes, but ime, people's kleshas are getting worse, our moral fiber is frayed and fraying, and most people are substituting a attempted samsaric fix for the real solution to suffering. all these supposed advances are, from my pov, a honey-smeared razor.

of course you can achieve the eight common or ordinary siddhi through wanting them. that's why they are called ordinary or common. they are achieved in common by practitioners of many different traditions and religions without necessarily being associated with Bodhicitta. the keys are faith (that it...
