Re: Dzogchen & Vipashyana on thoughts

It appears that Jax's mistaken assertions about Dzogchen have caught the eye of Lama Tony Duff (see Lama Tony Duff's Fb Post below), which I am glad to see because I think Lama Tony's constructive criticism of Jax's errors may help some people from getting lost in confusion. Posted on Fb by Lama Ton...

Re: Chatral Rinpoche's passing

Sarawasti, Chatral Rinpoche's daughter, wrote a letter that appears to dispute some of the reports being made about Chatral Rinpoche's passing: Found this translation from the Tibetan by Erick Tsiknopoulos, January 10th, 2016: Owing to circumstances that, presently, a situation has occurred in which...

Re: Alaya-vijnana it is shared or subjective storage?

The distinction is basically this: in cittamatra, phenomena are mental events. The way Lonchenpa explains it is like this. Bodhicitta, awakened mind, is like space, it is the basis, but it is not established in anyway. Its potential or energy [rtsal] arises like the face of a mirror. The display of...

Well it was some time ago since you did sent Tenzin Wangyal a message about that Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche has said that only about 1% of disciples will recognize actual rigpa.

Yes. Very interesting. I camped there over the summer for Rinpoche's retreat and it felt like home. I love the aerial view. It really shows the depth and beauty of the woods.

Re: Student Teacher Relationship in Modern Age

With this post I am actually quoting a recognized authority, so the disclaimer in my signature does not apply. Starting around the 15 minute mark in the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGzN4FAFgTs Alan Wallace talks about the various approaches to Dzogchen. At one end of the spectrum...

Re: Self-Liberation Through Seeing With Naked Awareness

I have internalized "Self-Liberation Through Seeing With Naked Awareness," by Guru Padmasambhava and the accompanying commentary by John Reynolds. As the text says, there are no antecedent or subsequent requirements. It is not accurate to say that it is used to transmit the Direct Introduction, the...

Re: Student Teacher Relationship in Modern Age

Intellectual study makes you an "expert" but obscures the relaxed natural state of mind which is synonymous with Rigpa. This is incorrect. Intellectual study does not obscure rigpa. Dzogchen has no limits. A person can study intellectual concepts while practicing Dzogchen at the same time. Manjushr...

Re: Student Teacher Relationship in Modern Age

I think its time students of Buddhadharma got over the Abrahamic religions one way or another. Either revert and done with it, or see it with unthreatened eyes. Poo or vacate the pot I think.. Yes, it's time to grow up. Yes i totally agree  CTR once said that the best mantra is "“OM—grow up—...

Re: Student Teacher Relationship in Modern Age

Quite often in dzogchen you get the same type of answers you would get if you were a Christian. As a Christian when you ask " why" they say " because the bible says so "or " that's what Jesus said". The reason direct introduction is impossible from a book is because a book does not have a mind. Sin...

Re: Importance of a Dharma Teacher/Oral Transmission

Right, no one said it was completely impossible. So do you believe it is possible for a deaf person? In a previous thread you said that it would be possible for a deaf person to receive transmission because transmission "is not only by sound, but can be communicated through any of the five senses. ...
