Re: Kalacakra and shambala

Try Alexander Berzin, maybe in his archives there will be sth, or email a teacher, that could help. Or read a commentary from a master. Sometimes boddhisatvas are called warriors. Maybe in Chogyam Trungpa's book about Shambhala you could find some info to help you.

Re: Using bell when chanting mantras and an apology

I think it is better not to use it. Bells in vajrayana are things used for practice in a special way and has quite a deep symbolism etc. It is not a mere musical instrument. But that is my personal idea, not sure if it is shared or valid. I have been taught that some mantras can be sung (peaceful ma...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Oh great now i understand what it means thanks Don't get stressed or discouraged by that. I have been following Rinpoche for 6 years but because I am a student and sometimes I can barely find money for food I have never been a member. But if you visit local sangha people will for sure help you a lo...

Re: The Aro Authenticity Debate.

Interesting to hear there is evidence of authenticity. And kinda glad. What about trying out their meditation course? http://aromeditation.org/ This could give us a chance to get an insight into their instructions and maybe even end the debate.

Re: Question about removing christian/etc. baptism

Ah, don't worry that much. If you want to, read the thread about Aro that is there at the moment. That messed with my worldview a bit and made me think a bit. But hey, trust refuge. Refuge is supposed to chase away demons and etc. (story in Words of my prefect teacher). So why shouldn't it be enough...

Re: The Aro Authenticity Debate.

I am quite confused. When it came to Sogyal, people claimed how important it is to have qualified guru. And now we are claiming that Aro can be valid just because the students believe it? Well students believe in Sogjal's innocence, people believe that homeopatics are real medicine. But seriously it...

Re: Beers and alcohol

Like Florin said, if you follow lower tantras then I think alcohol is a no-no, in HYT it is not, but depends on teacher. :) Also what is important is you. Are you capable of having a glass and not desiring another and getting drunk? I slowly found out that I am not capable of that and that life is b...

Re: What it means to be a ngakpa

I think the "market" can slowly open in the west and maybe it is slowly opening. Many teachers do rituals for deceased even in the west. That I think has the potential to develop into some sort of "market" for support of ngakpas. But of course it might take time to develop and it won't probably ever...

Re: Turn daily life into Dharma

I think the best thing is trying to stay present and develop loving kindness and compassion. Also trying to remind yourself of dream-like nature of phenomena is quite helpful. :) But it is easiest with some stable formal cusion practice as it gives it more juice and also it is the best starting point.

Re: What it means to be a ngakpa

... there is very little market for the skills of Ngakpas in the West, and I doubt there will ever be much of one. A market? WTF does a market have to do with things? If I make offerings to the naga, or sang to appease local spirits, or... I do it because of supply and demand??? You mean they don't...

Re: ChNN on presence

So to recapitulate. We should train in presence by mentally checking (or commenting) what we are doing, like "I am sitting in my bed and writing in english on dharmawheel, etc."? And in order to really become dzogchen practitioners we should train in shine. Can we perfect shine in our daily life (me...

Re: New Rigpa letter

I kinda hoped the situation has resolved and that Sogyal left Rigpa, but seems like I was sorely mistaken. It is a great shame and he should start doing something to not clean his name and not clean the mess but something that would show he has some sense of guilt left. But that is just wishful thin...

Re: My grandmother died

Thank you all very much. Get the materials (CD + booklet) on Shitro and do it, it is not so hard. Also you probably should have lung for Avalokiteshvara Khorwa Tongrtug, which also can be used to benefit dead people. Do you mean the book "Teachings on Shitro and Yangti" ? Yes and the two books ment...

Re: The Real "Dark Age"

I think "metoo" movement is pretty dumb. Why is it dumb? It is dumb, becuase it lumps together women, who were real victims of rape with women who were victims of their own bad decisions. Who are the women who are victims of their own bad decissions? Women who willingly slept with their guru or oth...

Guys, thank you for your help with my last question concerning Mandarava practice. Now I'm wondering if I can practice Long-Life practice of Gury Amitayus just by receiving Amitayus lung from the last retreat. I have this practice in my mind: http://shop.shangshungfoundation.com/en/restrict...

Yes, as long as you receive particular lung and instructions and have received direct introduction, you can do practices such ngondro (semdzin and rushan), yoga of clarity and emptiness, Mandarava practice, basic Kalachakra practice, mantras of 25 spaces of Samantabhadra, semde practices and tregch...
