Re: Is it Beneficial to Use Dharma Names in Daily Life?

A rose by any other name...

I'd focus on watching mind and keeping vows. Then you live your dharma name.

Otherwise I'd say no difference. Maybe easier to pronounce for tibetans.

simply obsessed with sex. thats because of contraception. remove all the pills, condoms etc from the market and sex will become what it is pretty soon - procreation. I'd not say that. Plenty of people without need for contraception or protection were/are still obsessed with it. For example pre-AIDS...

Re: Was karmamudra part of ganachakra in the ancient India?

This isn’t about “sacred sexuality” whatever that means. Karmamudra is yoga. Why can’t people just get laid without turning it into some spiritual trip? Sex is no big deal as long as one is loving, focused on the partner’s needs and wants, keeping ahimsa in mind. Sex is entertainment. Karmamudra is...

Re: Buddhism Green Anarchism: Opinions?

What has the AntiFa movement achieved? Well, for one czech AntiFa movement made streets safer in tge 90s when neonazi groups decided to attack roma people, lgbtq+ people and etc. Tgey also veryoften protected pride parades from violent atracks from neonazis etc. And it was thanks to their vigilance...

Re: Is it ok to practice Vajrasattva mantra meditation without oral transmission

Transmission of lung is needed for vajrasattva. But since you are not even tantrika probably, then 35 Buddhas conglfession practice should do the trick. :)

Also devrloping relative bodhicitta is a great purification, or reciting mani mantra.

Did I misremember the story? Hi Arnoud, I don’t think so. And I think that I’ve heard that story (probably on this forum); yet had forgotten about it. Anyway, I personally don’t like it when people abbreviate Lama’s names, unless they spell their name out at least once in a thread, before they star...

Re: When are you teaching dzogchen?

Advice or experience from peers is in a different category than advice from teachers. If that’s not understood by the person receiving the advice, that is indeed a problem. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with peer advice in Dzogchen per se, with the caveats that 1) DW is not the best place to...

Re: When are you teaching dzogchen?

I doubt most practitioners come to this forum seeking genuine teachers or teachings on Dzogchen. So from the perspective of the person you would be giving advice, you are unlikely to be considered a teacher, and your advice or comments therefore unlikely to be taken as teachings. From your side of ...

When are you teaching dzogchen?

Hello, Lately I've been wondering. When somebody comes here with their experience of meditation or rigpa, is giving them advice teaching them? I am not talking about regular advice as in go to your teacher, or find this text. But really from personal experience telling them how to do it or what to d...

Re: Not to make statue of a living teacher

Yeah, I've heard the same. That creating a statue of your teacher is inauspicious. I think it is a cultural thing as making a statue of ones teacher is usualy done after the passing of the teacher. Sort of like why Japanese don't stap their chopstics into their food as it reminds them of offerings f...

Not according to ChNN, who claimed that you need to have practised these practises and git signs first. @OP. No one in the DC has been officially authorised to transmit lungs, Yeshi (who is yet to transmit a single lung) included. within the DC, afaik Ms. Robinson, Yungchen, at least can; some have...

Concerning the question of whether one can purify karma or not generally it is taught that through the 4 oponnent powers one can purify any karma when they are present. The 4 powers are: regret, reliance, remedy and resolve. So you regret your deeds, you rely on the three jewels, you perform a pract...

Re: Which of the following activities do you consider sexual misconduct? (continued)

But then, what constitutes sexual misconduct? Generally the answer is simply to look to local community standards. Or, use a criteria based directly on standard Mahayana criteria: “Does this activity (or will this activity potentially) cause beings to suffer?” Then if you want to go beyond that: “D...
