Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

FPMT International Office understands that best practice is to suspend a teacher from teaching while an investigation is ongoing, in order to protect students, and the teacher. The investigation into what happened on the flight is currently being conducted by the Indian police. We have therefore te...

Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

I think there's a lot at stake in this, given that it is the FPMT. They simply must undertake a serious and impartial investigation and if there is any kind of evidence, he should absolutely be shown the door. The F P M T are to undertake the roles of the police, the judge and the jury? What makes ...

Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

Maybe we need to remember that these are allegations at this point, not proven facts.

If Rinpoche has broken the law then he should be prosecuted, if he has broken his Vinaya discipline then he should sanctioned in accordance with those rules too. But, we don’t yet know that is the case.

I met fine art graduate who was studying to become a school art teacher who vigourously upheld the notion that, "Whatever provokes a reaction," is Art. Creepy unattractive midgets
You have someone particular in mind? Most Tibetan monks I've met are taller than me including Dagri Rinpoche and I've never been called a midget. Short maybe, but not a midget (I'm around 5'8" in the morning and 5'7" by nightfall  ).

Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

I think so because of his robes. if a lay person wears monk's robes, that isn't good at all, that's deceiving. Con you tell the difference between monk’s robes and “lay robes”? Dagri Rinpoche is a monk and was my ordination master when I took novice vows. He was one of the 10 fullly ordained monks ...

Agreed. It reminds me of the improvised dance I saw made by a dancer to represent Tai Chi after watching a class. All upper body but no root and no energy.

Flood's motive looks sincere and his criticisms of the Report are soundly based in law & statutes. Really? Doesn’t look that way to me. I struggle to understand why Trump’s criminality isn’t obvious to everyone (I’m still naive enough to think that if it was, both Republicans controlling th...

We can take it for granted that a larger and more complete Mahayana Parimoksha tradition has existed, and what we now have are fragments from it.
That is your contention - I have yet to see any evidence for it.

Re: Laymen who attain arhantship must enter the Order or attain parinirvana

I found online a copy of the paper from Dr Dutt that’s been quoted from. In it, he seems very clear that manuscript though self-named as a pratimoksa, should not properly be thought to be one nor is it connected to what Shantideva cited: At the Library of the cambridge University, there is an manusc...

As Lobsang said, it depends on the teacher, the student and their circumstances and dispositions. It is not necesary to hang out with a teacher to be inspired by them nor is it even necessarily helpful: the folk-wisdom, familiarity breeds contempt , can be relevant here. I doubt whether there is a d...

The notion of a bodhisattva pitaka with bodhisattva precepts as a pratimoksha has roots in the Indian tradition,, for example Asanga refers to it in his Bodhisattvabhumi.
I haven't seen it. Could you provide the quote or its location?

I cant express my thoughts within the guidelines of this forum. A non-order member certainly may, if they wish, live the holy life. End of story. Oh I imagine some Mahāyānika venerable or another has put it down in nice quotable ink that this is a stipulation for śrāvakayāna, not bodhisattvayāna. I...
