There is White Dzambhala practice which Garchen Rinpoche uses a lot and there are lines of prayers to different deities and so forth. There is also in the beginning mentioning of Amitayus. So it could be the text perhaps.

IT could have been connected to his practices. During waxing moon it is good to do pacifying and enriching and waning moon magnetizing or wrathful. Also during that waning time it might be better to keep lower profile.

As far as I know in Drikung we have Vajravarahi with left foot up in Phowa tradition.
The main Deity practice is right foot bent upwards.
So thats the difference. And Phowa transmission is quite often given in public. So I guess
thats where the difference comes.

The second picture is image of White Dzambhala.
Blue or turqoise dragon is a figure also in sache (tibetan geomancy or like in chinese feng shui).
but more specifically I cant remember. maybe connection with nagas and wealth also.
