My favorite generics are Taco Bell hot sauce packets and Tapatio

As for homemade, I really like salsa verde and hybrid verde/guac.

Re: Best Trek The Next Generation episodes?

Ok it's a guilty pleasure, but I was wanting to watch one. Do the community members have any recommendations? D or Voyager I would watch too. I will fight you on TNG being a guilty pleasure. Best is definitely S3E26 - S4E01 "The Best of Both Worlds Pt. 1 and 2", Followed by S4E02 "Family" as a refl...

Q's line from STNG "All Good Things" about the "unexplored possibilities of existence" stuck with me as a kid.
Oh, yes, Q! Every episode with Q in it is worth watching.

Yesterday's Enterprise and Ship in a Bottle are great. TNG has too many good episodes for me to recall. DS9 is great too, but that's best enjoyed by watching every episode start to finish...

Diet and exercise don’t work either. I know. I’ve tried that dozens of times. Work for what though? This guy just wants a better samsara... 10 times out of 10 when someone tells me that Buddhism or meditation doesn't work, I find out they have some kind of motivation connected to the eight worldly ...

Re: So this gym rat says to me

This blog almost reads like satire.
If humility were truly a virtue we would turn on our TV's and worship humble and dirty street beggars, on their knees begging and crying for pennies, instead of worshiping big ego sports stars, actors and TV personalities.

You want and need a big ego to survive and thrive in the real world.

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

I agree with Seeker's point - that one of the many consequences of climate change is that society is going to need to adapt alternative food sources, and reduce reliance on meat. There might, after all, be actual large-scale famines and/or food shortages before too long, what with the mushrooming g...

No, it's not ad hominem. Ad hominem would be me saying you were stupid or attacking you. Re: Will mahayana die in asia in the future?

What is most damaging in the missionary spread of buddhism is the very poor organization. In terms of organization, buddhism is quite inferior to christianity and even islam. That is a shame because buddhism is superior in philosophy to other religions. the best religious philosophy other than budd...

Re: Will mahayana die in asia in the future?

It's a pretty pointless line of speculation, in light of the recent UN report that a thousand species of plant and animal are facing extinction. That is far graver problem than anything that might or might not happen to Mahayana Buddhism. Definitely not so for me as a Mahayana Buddhist. Without the...

Re: Buddhism and the Historical Buddha

But "traditional" Buddhism is not necessarily the best guide to what the Buddha actually taught. For better or for worse, it's the Buddha's teachings filtered through generations of monastics in several different societies and infused with folk traditions and superstitions of each society it has pa...

Re: Like a dream or a kind of dream?

In Buddhism, does a waking state look like a dream, but it is essentially not a dream or is it essentially a dream (albeit a different kind of it)? In other words, when we are awake, are we, precisely, awake or are we just seeing another kind of sleep? This isn't a conceptual thing, it's a doing, o...

Re: Visualisations and Dzogchen

I have never gotten the visualization part of practice. I don't know if others feel the same way, but for me, growing up in the West, a lot of the symbols and so on lack the feeling of sacredness and/or power they would have had I been raised in a Buddhist culture. While I was raised Catholic, I ha...

Re: Buddha does not recommend recitation

It's simply not true that sutras were written down 100 years after the Buddha's death. Nothing was written down at the first council, as far as I know. Everything was written down hundreds of years later. So according to the YouTubers own logic, he is following fake teachings.
