Re: Why samsara exists

The short Buddhist answer: ignorance. I would be wary of replies best suited for the syfy forum.

This could be debated as there are a variety of religions that include some Buddhadharma, such as right speech, right action , etc, but this is not the proper place.

Re: ChNN on Jesus?

In general, Māra appears in visions and dreams. When one has such visions and dreams, there are ways to test whether or not that vision or dream is a Māra. The point of course is that one needs to be careful about trusting visions and dreams. This is discussed in both the sūtras and the tantras. In...

ChNN is not Buddhist canon.
But he is the root guru of many here and is the reincarnation of Adzom Drukpa. Many consider him to be enlightened. For others, he is just another lama.

Re: ChNN on Jesus?

Loppon Malcolm, have you changed your position since you made these comments in 2012 or am I misunderstanding? [quote="Malcolm"]As ChNN says, if you regard god a symbol of your primodial potentiality, then there is no problem. In any event, you can just keep assuming that your point of view is right...

Re: What attracted you to Dzogchen?

I was raised Christian but sometimes got into conflict with my doctrine professors because I was struggling with views that I later found out were Dzogchen. I later converted to Theravada, but to me it seemed nihilistic. I am thankful to Loppon Namdrol and others at the former E-sangha who introduce...

Re: ChNN on Jesus?

Years ago during a retreat I remember ChNN saying that you could use Jesus in guru yoga if you understood him to represent the guru that unifies all, but he also commented that he didn't know why someone would do this since Jesus had no connection to Dzogchen. I also remember him saying something to...

HHDL often consults oracles and at least one of them has a cabinet position.

Re: The ego and self-esteem

Low self-esteem is very much a western concept. Low self esteem is pretty universal, though different countries may have different terms for it. I don't know all Asian cultures, but I do know Chinese culture pretty well, and whether they will admit it or not, low self-esteem is pervasive in their c...

Re: Who has lived as something other than a worker-consumer?

I wash dishes and prep cook for below minimum wage so I can afford beans eggs and tortillas and to pay for a roof over my head, which by the way, I am loosing.

If I was a better practitioner I would see my abusers as bodisattvas, but I'm still working on that.

Dont give up.

Dzogchen in México

I would like to hear about people's Dzogchen experiences in México, especially how the local people react to the teachings. I would love to hear about Loppon Namdrol's experiences. I ask because I plan to one day move to a small village in Veracruz where the area is very Catholic but also very super...
