Re: Left Buddhism

Can you go back to your old teacher? I mean: are they still around? They sure are, its Garchen Rinpoche. And when i think about him i feel a sense of "its alright, get back on track, keep going." And a feeling of forgiveness. Love that man. Unless you completely abandoned bodhicitta (which clearly ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

The Berkeley, CA Dzogchen Community sent out a message about Puja for the Master at 6:30 PM today California time.

Is this just something that Dondrub Ling (Berkeley) is doing with their group, or is this coordinated time-wise with practitioners in Merigar and/or Dzamling Gar etc. as well?

Re: Can a Stream Enterer believe in silly things?

Secular western neoconservative & ‘liberal’ tirthikas & carvakas/lokayatas believe in things much more silly than ants not having eyes.

Their false pride (“empirical observation”, usually driven by ignorance and/or agendas and/or lobbying/corporations) prevents them from recognizing the fact.

Do you know any good Tibetan doctor (name, where is, etc..) ? Re: Questions about bodhisattva vow

On the other hand, here (that I mentions above) mentions "If you completely commit a root downfall, it destroys the vows in your mental continuum. Once you break one of your root vows, you cannot attain the first bodhisattva bhumi in this life (seeing emptiness under the influence of bodhichitta is...

Re: Big messages to deplorables ???

I don’t think you’re incorrect on that point. My point is, who would trump get replaced with? Only another bush, obama, or clinton? Yea people like Bernie Sanders, Cynthia McKinney, Ron Paul, and Ralph Nader might be a little better than all of the above; but I still think we’re going to have to do ...

Re: Big messages to deplorables ???

Facism is all about appealing to the lowest common denominator, to the basest wants and emotions. It thrives on stupid. In that case, every president we’ve ever had has been an fascist. Because the influence of big-agri/biotech, big pharma, the military-industrial-complex, corporatism or better sai...

Re: Limits to Redemption in Each Tradition?

Also, Longchenpa wrote in The Great Chariot that the eighth of the lunar calendar (tomorrow; then also the 10th, two days after) is very powerful for purification (perhaps this about the eighth is a Sarma influence?). And Chokhor-Duchen in July: https://fpmt.org/media/resources/dharma-dates/ https:/...

If what Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen said about this is literal, or if he wasn’t using skillful means there in addressing monks (there is a paper written—I can’t remember by who, I’ll have to find it—that says that some statements made about sex by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen were skillful means because his au...

Re: Mipham: Gelug = Svatantrika Madhyamaka

Put simply, the things that we normally see do not exist at all because they are fabricated by ignorance. Well that would actually be the final conclusion of Mipham as well (someone correct me if I’m mistaken). Then the moral of this story is that debating over whose Madyamaka is right and whose is...

Re: Big changes over at DW (Theravada) and new forum

I’ve noticed that when many western Buddhists hear something that they don’t want to hear, they come with “you can’t fix samsara”.

But then when it comes to their viewpoint or an viewpoint popular among western Buddhists, all of an sudden it’s like, well maybe we can fix samsara a little bit.
