If you go to Georgia, you will find they LOVE him.
He used to give people a ride in his personal car (min 20:45 in the video). And he died with only 4.40 rubles in his saving account.
How can you not love him?

Re: Tsogyelgar Upper Shrine Room Burned to the Ground

From that website: In 1860, Golok Tibet, the greta Dzogchen Siddha Do Khyetnse was on pilgrimage to the hidden land of Pemakö when he fell to his death from one of the many dangerous wooden bridges which crossed high gorges and raging cascades. As he fell he whispered a prayer which he had been repe...

Re: Welcoming Anagarika Ficus into the Sangha

But on the other extreme, you might even anger vegetarians if you apply that sentience categorization TOO broadly; like if you apply it to all vegetation and fruits and vegetables, then - Does that imply that the Jains were more correct after all? There is an academic paper titled "The Problem of t...

Welcoming Anagarika Ficus into the Sangha

Buddhist monks from north-east Thailand have been so worried about the environment, they have been ordaining trees with sainthood since 1990!This unique trend emerged after a period of extensive deforestation in Thailand and Cambodia between 1961 and 1998. Phrakru Pitak Nanthakthun started and has ...

He said he's had an ongoing pact with the poker gods. They let him win and he donates his profits to charity, no matter what. Re: Text/prayer table

How is the text/prayer table actually called? I've been thinking of getting one and realized I had no idea what's the correct name for it (if it has a name). I mean the thing some have in front of them when sitting on the floor to put texts and possibly other things on. What kind of table are peopl...

Re: interactions between humans and other beings

Deva cannot create sentient beings. The idea is contrary to the teachings on Dependent Origination and karma. One could be born into a realm created by a Deva but that does not mean that they are controlled by the Deva. There is still volition. Yes, of course, there is still volition and free will....

Re: interactions between humans and other beings

The Suttas speak of nimmanarati devas who delight in the sense objects of their own creation. However, I never found a clear explanation on what such creation would consist of. Are these devas able to create entire realms? If they are, then can sentient beings, propelled by karma, take rebirth in th...

I don't think the above is correct. Anybody have ideas? They were in a market instead of a temple, so I wonder if they're not actually specific buddhas. They did have an actual Guan Yin and Amida which I didn't photograph, however. The second-one could be a form of Amogapasha Lokeshvara, an...

Is there a practice in which Guru Rinpoche manifests as Manjusri?

I think I remember hearing someone mention such a practice some years ago, but I can't find anything about it now.
Mawey Senge. One of the 12 manifestations of Guru Rinpoche from Tukdrub Barchey Künsel.

Nagas are often associated with skin diseases, urogenital diseases, some cancers, some mental diseases, some epidemic diseases, and some chronic cachetic or wasting diseases. Pema Chopel, if you don't mind, could you please elaborate a little on this topic? If I understand correctly, you are both a...
