Re: Dungsey Shenphen Dawa Norbu Rinpoche entered into Parinirvana

When a great and realized Buddhist master enters Parinirvana it is a cause for rejoicing. When a great teacher and father does so it can be a cause for great sorrow. When these two are the same person it depends on your own view. May all be blessed. 🙏🌷🌷

Re: is doing spell is ok in Buddhism?

There is a lot of fear on this website, as a Wiccan who is trying to practice Buddhism, I am sad to say that magic gets a bad rap because so many people have been taught that it is evil or causes bad karma. Honestly, I have had some really bad consequences from protection spells, but I have also se...

Re: Response to Bernie

Pretty hard to avoid using the word rig pa in a Dzogchen ngpondro. Gathering accumulations and purification is a good thing. Different teachers have different approaches to how these things are bestowed. People have different karma, different experiences, and need different approaches. There is no ...

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

Disclosure: I was encouraged to get a gun for self protection when I was living in a really high crime area in South Central LA. I have some crazy stories, but I learned that if you aren't involving yourself with gangs and drugs, you really don't have anything to fear. As it turned out, I never had...

Re: Best book on the Bardo Thodöl or Death in general

What's the one you would recommend to gain more knowledge on death and dying? The best description of the death process can be found in ChNN's Birth, Life, and Death. It is the clearest and most profound resource in English. Thanks for this recommendation. I've ordered a copy and look forward to re...

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

I can't see a program like that working in the US at all. The only people here that would favor a program like that are likely middle class urbanites who already don't own guns. So even if the political class had the will, I don't think most of the gun owners would. IIRC Australias population is al...

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

Given that the market has been saturated with AR 15's here for a while now, and they are simply "out there" what do you think congress could realistically do that would have an immediate effect on these sorts of mass shootings? I agree it's crazy, I just hear this sentiment a lot, that somehow cong...

Re: Donating one's organs at death

So, I heard back from ChNN Rinpoche about donating my organs at death. I told him, "Giving away my organs to those in need when I die is something I'm strongly attracted to, but since death is an important opportunity for a Dzogchen practitioner, would this disturbance of the body be a mistake?" He...

For those interested in intersex and third gender issues, here is a long and thougtfully detailed article from Human Rights Watch that goes into some detail about changing medical opinions, paradigms, and the state of things today. https://www.hrw.org/report/2017/10/26/changing-paradigm/us-medical-p...

If one is considering comparisons to the Twelve Caesars, then most definitely Nero. "Chaotic, corrupt, incurious, infantile, grandiose, and obsessed with gaudy real estate, Donald Trump is of a Neronic temperament." Re: What is a Woman?

Just to clear up some common misconceptions and ones still fostered on people by uninformed medical communities: [*]There are two biological genders... No, there are three, the third being intersex, which can occur in any of the six known human chromosomal combinations, those being XO, XX, XXX, XY, ...

Re: Largest one day drop in U.S. stock market - in history

A great deal of the action today on Wall Street was driven by computerized trading, where when things started to drop the programs followed and caused a further drop and on and on until it was quite a spectacular drop. These same programs will soon recognize undervalued stocks and start buying them ...

Re: Can other religions/philosophies/practises complement Buddhadharma?

I sometimes show those who show interest a picture of the Wheel of Life as represented in Tibetan iconography and thangkas. I usually then explain of al...

But that’s not the reason. It’s because we all have to get along in a pluralistic world.
We can all respect each other while still maintaining our separate views. Besides a little friction is always fun.
Yes. And definitely yes.
