Re: Family member passed, question

Update: Garchen institute got back to me yesterday and asked for her name and date of passing. She is being added to the prayer list, the next one of which will take place Nov 5.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Family member passed, question

A family member committed suicide recently. Does H.E. Garchen Rinpoche still do a mass practice for the dead once a month or so, if yes where can I submit her name to be part of that?

Thanks a bunch.

By chance, does anyone know if the June 16-18th event be webcasted? If so, will it be a private or public webcast?

Thanks a lot for pointing this out, doesn't get much better than a free dharma book from DJKR.

Ojo: Let me tell you about my 'real power' as requested. I'm still recovering from diverting ley lines around Avebury with my phurba and causing storms by beating my Garuda wings over in Siberia. Life's really full on. Just when I thought I'd relax and have time tell you all about my awesomeness th...

Re: Refuge and Empowerment Through Tech?

Does anyone have sources by chance of masters explicitly saying you can receive empowerment from a mere recording? My impression is that much of it is rumors and stuff lost in translation, coming from students, rather than the guru. I'm interested in understanding the reasoning behind it from those ...

Re: Sam Harris receives a (literal) pointing out instruction

Yes, he is saying that they are the same. However as Malcolm has pointed out he qualifies it.... ...So basically he is saying to the "purists" that he doesn't care. You're right, his qualifying it isn't to temper the veracity of his assertions, rather it's basically to express at best an indifferen...

Re: Sam Harris receives a (literal) pointing out instruction

That he says both seek an insight into the non-duality of counsciousness doesn't mean that they both seek the same insight. So if I understand you right, you're suggesting that Harris' true intent contradicts word for word what he actually says? Like a major typo or something? I'm looking at the bo...

Re: Sam Harris receives a (literal) pointing out instruction

Malcolm disregards the intent of what Harris writes - totally inline with Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and others, and willfully distorts it to create a false argument based on narrow definitions of isolated phrases and words. I'm not sure I follow your point. I own the book and aside from some food-for-t...

Re: The Dharma of Westworld

I personally think the authors of Westworld were primarily inspired by Gnostic ideas and mythos, while of course giving rough Buddhistic ideas the occasional shout out.
