Re: What will happen when Daisaku Ikeda dies?

Are you sure that you aren't confusing "Victor Hugo's house" with "the Victor Hugo House?" Victor Hugo AFAIK has never lived in the château des roches. The place of residence Victor Hugo used when writing les miserable...it's a national treasure he bought it when Les Miz was at it's height ... As I...

Re: What will happen when Daisaku Ikeda dies?

I was an adult at the time, France was outraged , he out bid everyone. It made the news big time in France. Are you sure that you aren't confusing "Victor Hugo's house" with "the Victor Hugo House?" Re: What will happen when Daisaku Ikeda dies?

France was not happy to see the famous treasure, Victor Hugo 's home,go the way of a Japanese billionaire due to bidding. What? Victor Hugo's home is a museum owned by the City of Paris. What are the sources for your other claims? He owns the house...bought it in the 80's along with some 40 million...

Re: Father has cancer.

I have gotten to a point in my life where I am skeptical and hesitant to pray, and hesitant to ask for others prayers. The point of our various Buddhist practices is to attain Buddhahood. We believe in prayer because it does work. Not all the time it might seem , but behind the scenes so much is ha...

I doubt he's heard the song, or even would understand it. I'd speculate that maybe he meant that the despair we hippies felt defined us to him. And you're right about him being the perfect instrument. He might be the perfect instrument , but thats about living for the Lotus sutra. all the money and...

Re: What will happen when Daisaku Ikeda dies?

I see his life as one with the Law and was the perfect instrument for the Law to spread throughout the world outside of Japan. When he dies this legacy of him will live on. He is responsible for bringing this practice to the world. And deserves much credit for his life's work. It's going to be a ver...

Re: How important is forgiveness?

Forgiveness means that there’s now a blank slate as far as whatever the offending behavior was. It’s like forgiving a debt. You don’t owe the money anymore. Are you referring to the Karmic debt incurred by the offenders actions? Does forgiveness wipe that slate clean? Forgiveness is an attitude , a...

How in Sam's Hell did Einstein know about this and theorized it through math..

i'm so in awe.
Because of him, we all knew about this well before we ever saw one...

Einstein also believed in a Creator .. did he have the math on that as well... :stirthepot:

Re: How important is forgiveness?

As Buddhists we are supposed to be trained in this... Not nearly as importance as acceptance. Not that the two are mutually exclusive necessarily, but forgiveness typically carries an agenda, even if it's just to "make things right", to make things ok again. Acceptance of where things actually are,...

Re: How important is forgiveness?

I was having a discussion on forgiveness with a Gelugpa monk friend of mine and I said to him: I think the problem with forgiveness is 1) It looks like you are doing the other person a favor when in fact we know that any abuse etc... we suffer from somebody is karmic debt, so in effect they are doi...

A Rinpoche , and a Shoshu priest, both agreed with Hawking's theory of time as a circle. Time is so long it bends upon itself becoming a circle. Citation please. Forgiveness is for your own sake, not the other person. When you forgive, you free yourself from the anger and bitterness that would otherwise fester in your heart.

That festering anger affects the whole pond

Re: How important is forgiveness?

Holding grudges is the most affecting ourselves in the first place, but also the environment. Just like holding on all kind of passing feelings-emotions is affecting our health, troubles our perception. Saying I forgive is easy of course, but, not so easy….looking to others, suffering of confusion ...

i met Margaret Atwood once in the 80's in a bar and she wanted to purchase my sunglasses. lol...for real......she is a genius feminist and the series has undertones of modern society norms we should all think about. People follow Osho because they took too much drugs, and now think that wearing a red turban and having tantric sex with other hippies is where its at. This is bullshit. Hi people . I have this memory of a gosho line, it might be authentique Gosho or it might be fake...it's a goodie though.
