Re: emptiness is pure

You're calling the Prajnaparamita sutras forgeries now!? I never knew that sutras could be deemed forgery until this thread appeared,, or that translators translated stuff and insert different stuff in later translations. If you read the entire thread you will see that i take this seriously and am ...

Re: Love at first sight

of course it is a circumstantial deceiving. however, i think one should live the experience at least once, to live the diasapointment, so one knows what Buddha mean about craving, delusion, etc. ah you are a man after my own heart... like William Blake said ... The road of excess leads to the palac...

Re: emptiness is pure

forged sutras...like i need this... Why forged? Why not just divergent, like the divergent recensions of the Lotus Sutra? If we're too vigilant in identifying motivations for differences in these texts to things like forgeries and trickeries and misunderstandings, then suddenly things like Venerabl...

Re: emptiness is pure

On terms of these specific versions, T255 is translated by a Ven Fǎchéng during the early Tang and is apparently translated from a Tibetan version. If it is translated from Tibetan, that latter was based on a Sanskrit text, unless the translation is specifically identified as being based on a Chine...

Re: emptiness is pure

When I was studying the four virtues as taught by Nichiren they translated roughly to equanimity, compassion, purity and boundlessness. These are the virtues that should accompany the view of emptiness because that is how it is seen from someone possessing the traits. i.e. the Buddha. and what is t...

Re: Love at first sight

love at first sight is a chemical thing.
it's not about compassion.

the karma connection is also true...

but love at first sight is all chemical/ hormone /evolution/natural selection/ kicking in all at once to get you to mate.

compassion is a highly advanced realization.

Re: emptiness is pure

The Samadhirāja Sūtra states: Youth, bodhisattva mahāsattvas know well that all phenomena are insubstantial, devoid of inherent existence, devoid of signs, devoid of characteristics, nonarising, unceasing, devoid of syllables, empty, peace from the beginning, and utterly pure by nature. The Perfect...

Re: Age of Mahayana Schools

is this pure inner emptiness part and parcel to the teaching of Sunyata or is it some other teaching.. You doubt your understanding it’s correct. Emptiness means Mahaprajna that has no distinction in itself like that state that you are in it’s just that. However when distinction is made it’s often ...

Re: Age of Mahayana Schools

Emptiness in sutra is complete as it is the question for common Mahayana is how to get there. “Contemplating the appearances of subject and object without differentiation is practicing prajñā-pāramitā.” Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra by Manjushri Not meant to be instructional. But all one needs to do is ...

Re: Age of Mahayana Schools

Emptiness, in sutra, I think here lies the problem I am having with you and your USE of the word emptiness. Lord Nagarjuna's teaching on sunyata came after sutra and is a whole other ball of wax... You are destroying the Sunyata concept with what you think is something relevant because the use of t...

empty is not called pure. Re: Why is it correct not to believe in a soul?

The concept of Atman is that it is a soul . It's inherent, it's a permanent created thing. . it cannot die it just keeps transmigrating till it gets it right so to speak and then becomes one with another inherent thing Paramatman . For buddhist this whole concept is off , and Buddha taught of a mind...

Re: emptiness is pure

are you talking about a dzogchen thing? cause when you use what Lord Nargarjuna left us and misappropriate it to make bolster some view , thats wrong. If one sees what Lord Nargajuna left us and decided to define as something he did not...and misappropriate it then it's quite serious if that person ...

Re: emptiness is pure

That's the point. However, we still regard phenomena as impure and so on. That's why we bathe and wash our clothes. Ok, but why is what is empty called pure? Surely it is beyond ideas of purity and impurity. The Heart Sutra: Listen Sariputra, all phenomena bear the mark of Emptiness; their true nat...
