Re: Finding a qualified Teacher

Tso Pema also is the seat of Lho Ontul Rinpoche, a highly regarded teacher from the Drikung Kagyu lineage. His son Ratna Rinpoche is also a teacher and speaks very good English. http://www.lhorigdzin.org/ontul.html https://www.facebook.com/ontul/ http://rywiki.tsadra.org/index.php/Lho_Ontul_Rinpoche...

Re: 5 precepts

A teacher very close to my heart said the 5 precepts are the absolute bare minimum to keep if you want to get somewhere in Dharma!

(p.s.: He also said its an ever evolving training process and not to be too harsh on oneself while in it)
(p.p.s.: Written by a wine-loving student :D )

Re: Jhanas in the Bodhisattva bhumi system

There is no direct relationship between Bhumis and Jhanas, as far as I know. If there is, I'd be interested in reading about it, too! "Jhana" usually refers to a stage of Samadhi, or "one-pointed mindfulness". I think of it more like a skill, a tool, like a magnifying glass, that we can use to enhan...

Generaly speaking those are things i keep in mind (since i heard them from my teachers) when im doing any practice: feeling presence of diety, trust in your Lama teachings, loosing expectations and attachment to result, and practice more.
Seconded. Solid advice in my experience.

I'm only answering to provide a tiny bit more open perspective to the whole thing.

Who knows what happened to him? How well do you know this guy? If you're not his teacher, stop the judgements and projections?

Re: Server migration Sept 22

It seems there is something wrong with the mail configuration of the new server. Having forgotten my password, I tried to have DharmaWheel send me a new one. Each time, there was no email even after hours. I then started to check the mail server logs and found this: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from ec2-52...

Re: Chogyal Rinpoche

The bio on his website says he studied in Rumtek. But since there are none of his teachers mentioned, there's no way to verify his tulku and/or rinpoche status. Could of course mean he's "extra humble" or something, but then, why would such a person advertise to be a reincarnated rinpoche in the fir...

If you are practicing shamatha, this could be a Nimitta. Lotus flower actually is a classic. Although this only appears at a very advanced stage.

Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

Having recently stumbled across the Instagram posts of the son of a certain lama, today he's posted some rather surprising pics. Think wads of money, a splif (i believe that's the stoner terminology). Ok, i just felt like sharing that -- sometimes the apple does fall quite far from the tree, it see...

Really? I don't think there is anybody here supporting the supposed actions.
Saying someone supports these horrible actions seems like a pretty tough accusation! :(

I feel relief to hear such clear-cut statements from HHDL. We're very lucky to have him around in this position!

I'm guessing four armed Sitatapatra terma by Nuden Dorje?

(By the way, you can always send an email to Rinpoche's helpers)

Re: Help with this Trungpa talk please?

With Trungpa Rinpoche its very helpful to develop an overall sense of the way he expressed himself, a "feel" for how he liked to put certain things. Then, I find, he makes a lot of sense. Actually some of his explanations were sheer genius. Just take the classic term "Spiritual Materialism". It may ...

Re: Very sad news

The Dalai Lama has said, in response to this type of question posted by Western Dharma center leaders, that if a teacher is behaving wrongly, and is harming people, one must speak out. HHDL did exactly that with respect to his own teacher, the Regent, when he lived in Lhasa. He also said that if cr...
