Re: What's the point of abusive gurus?

Context is everything. Some people in modern society pay a lot of money to be beaten with a cane. Maybe Buddhadharma needs some safe words? I can only recommend this channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCokRyLsHxh-NykvT4uA6n2g/featured Exercising your right to free speech are you? What a waiste...

Perhaps there was confusion with Dorje Drollo, who is an emanation of guru rinpoche?
they both are.

Re: Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Has Attained Parinirvana

Dear students of Chogyal Namkhai Norbus' teachings, I don't know much about Buddhism, but I am sure, that Namkhai Norbu was a big teacher with a lot of knowlegde and that he brought much inspiration to the ones, who listened to him. I have a question and it shouldn't be disrespectful regarding the ...

Re: Is tibetan inherently peacefull ?

As has been mentioned, peaceful is not the point of Buddhism, enlightenment and compasssion are. There are many stories that specifically use violence as an example of compassionate action. Peaceful is the one in Buddhism who acts according Compassion and Wisdom. then why is there a distinction mad...

Re: Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Has Attained Parinirvana

Who will be his successor? How shall we know of such? AFAIK there is no public information. It seems like now those who have been fortunate enough to have made a connection with ChNN and his transmission simple continue out practices, and purify and maintain samaya. Considering ChNN's wisdom and hi...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Pardon me, if one is going to purchase the Chod book, does one need to buy the Chod mp3 with the explanation, and practice too? Are the Chod book, and the mp4 practice video enough to learn from? If you are getting the Mp4 I think youre fine. The book contains an explanation of the practice, and th...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I mean, come on. I don't have the money for a lot of the products I would like, but why would I expect them to be free? They take time, energy, (woman and) manpower and money to produce, host and distribute. If they are given away for no charge that doesn't mean they are free, it means that we are e...

Re: Intense Guru Dragphur?

How intense is this practice? I found a group of ChNN'S followers in Texas that are able to transmit the practice, but before I make a decision of taking up this practice, how intense is it? Would this be a wise practice to take up for a 15 year old busy with school work and studies? Is there a dai...

Re: "You need to know Tibetan to achieve enlightenment in this life"

I have heard one teacher say it's important to recite Sadhanas in Tibetan, or Sanskrit, because that is how the realized masters of the past have recited it, therefore we receive their blessings. Another teacher said that sadhanas could be recited in Tibetan, but it was important to also study them ...

Re: "You need to know Tibetan to achieve enlightenment in this life"

Not being enlightened I can't answer this, of course, from personal experience, but that does seem to go against (at least the) dzogchen teachings. Of course much hasn't been translated, and learning Tibetan certainly seems extremely good in that regard, but there are many stories of uneducated peop...

Re: How to NOT annoy the guru?

I don't think this is a genuinely answerable question. It's the same as asking, "How do you interact with a person without annoying them?" There might be some general guidelines, but the answer will depend on the individual, and the circumstances and yourself, etc. etc. It seems like the way forward...

Re: Quote by ChNNR about Dzogchen and God - where is it from?

Anyways, I highly recommend that those of you who are conflating tirthika views with dzogchen to please read The Mind Beyond Papers by Elias Capriles as he succinctly and painstakingly details out the differences of views and results. Most gnostic and advaita vedanta "realizations" are simply the f...
