What do you do when someone you love leaves you feeling devalued and insignificant?

It's quite a hurtful thing to go through. What is the best way to deal with this type of treatment?

It is hard to judge, when one is not nearby.
The way you explain it sounds about right.

Don't worry too much!

I have been offered a management position within my company but today I had to have a conversation with the owner and had to be very frank about an associate. I had to explain to the owner that this associate is unprofessional and unkind to other associates and customers and is and is affecting the ...

Does being compassionate mean if we always have to be nice and we can express our opinions?

I'm Italian and not that that as an excuse but I tend to be quite blunt and am often torn between wanting to be compassionate and kind and also be true to how I feel about stuff. Where is the middle ground?

Haven't posted here in a while...

Hello everyone! I haven't posted anything in a while but yesterday I converted to Honmon Butsuryu Shu. So far, from all I've learned, it's been an incredible experience and my priest is being very helpful. He even shipped me a Gohonzon and juzu beads for free, which is more than awesome. I hope you ...

Re: What is the best way to deal with a roommate who acts up (acting irritated)? Reward with attention or ignore?

I know & I plan on moving out when my lease is up. I never should have resigned. But in the meantime, I'm struggling to figure out how to live with this person while also maintaining a compassionate stance and also not getting sucked in to their dysfunction. You guys maybe have dealt with this type ...

I wonder what caution there could be other than maybe not finding balance in things we enjoy such as marijuana, and alcohol? What do you think?

Today actually. Not sure how to respond to someone who tells me that I should be ashamed for being white.
Out of interest: was it a white person that shamed you?

Today actually. Not sure how to respond to someone who tells me that I should be ashamed for being white. You know, all the white privilege/shaming stuff going on these days. Should I be ashamed for choosing my own skin color? Taking advantage of your privilege for self gain/profit is "shameful", us...

Do you practice with Nichiren Shu, SGI or Nichiren Shoshu?

May I ask, why you follow the teachings of your particular sect? The intention of my post is to learn more about the different sects of Nichiren Buddhism.

Also, if you are an independent practitioner, what led you to be one?

Thank you all for everything and I hope you are all well.

Re: I'm finding it hard to make positive changes in my life

I agree, the aspiration is the beginning. It's very true! I am deeply grateful for all of the encouragement and support. I know that things will take time and determination. It's so easy to become discouraged but having the right perspective will help too. Thank you, really. Some things take longer ...

Re: I'm finding it hard to make positive changes in my life

Thank you for this. I completely agree. Reminds me of a book by William Woolard. I think his way of viewing the daimoku is quite similar in terms of "benefits". Thanks again my friend. The way I was encouraged was that chanting is not going to be a magic fix, that the chanting gradually leads to mor...
