Re: Why?

It is my understanding that prior to Padmasambhava coming to Tibet the Tibetans were very war-like and had conquered many smaller Asian countries as well as China...just a guess but that might account for their troubles now with China.

A few years back Khyentse Yeshi did a Longde retreat in the Baja. Did anyone here attend that? If so, do you know if there are transcripts/recordings of any kind?
Thought I would ask again...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I seem to remember someone telling me something about how Rinpoche wore rings on his index and ring fingers having something to do with protecting or conserving clarity and sensation or something like that. Anyone remember this at all?

Re: Quitting smoking

Its also helpful to remember that smoking isnt just one habit..its a lot of little habits. For example: you wake up in the morning and light up, after you eat you light up, just before going to bed you light up, a stressful situation happens, etc. So the idea is to figure out all of your little habi...

Lighten up. I know ... but today it's a bit hard. Read this, and look at the photos, as though you're reading about the countryside you grew up in and you might see why. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-06/dead-animals-bushfire-biosecurity-emergency/11843428?fbclid=IwAR1Z5byiQrR40GGO8xYchC_rtTRM...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I dont think there would be a problem with both son and daughter of Rinpoche stepping up and sharing the responsibility...but then again, Im not in the inner circle...would be nice though to get Rinpoches perspective from both of them...

i once read a wilkinson work and after a few lines my eyes where defiled 😂 [/quote] In order to make a comment like that apparently you must be fluent in the Tibetan language. Rinpoche had said 3 things many many times.
Relax,
Be Present,
Do Guruyoga.
Anyone know how to say and write these in Tibetan?

Re: Personal retreat suggestions - focus on semde

sounds like a plan...you can never do too much Guruyoga, right? One of the few things that Rinpoche always said was "Relax, be Present, do Guruyoga..these are the only things I tell you to do". Applying the practice of being Present between sessions as a practice in itself cannot be underestimated.....

Re: Personal retreat suggestions - focus on semde

Take a look at your situation and try and determine if there are any secondary practices that might be useful to intersperse between sessions that will be helpful to the main practice....the 3 day Vajra Armor retreat comes to mind as an example..Ive also found it helpful to do LOTS of really short p...

yeah..only one problem with all of this...a group of 500 scientists and climate professionals sent a “European Climate Declaration” to the U.N. with a stark message: “There is no climate emergency.” And as the MSM obviously wont be covering this it might be worth a look...as well as some open and ho...

Might be helpful if you remember which language the monk was chanting it in...Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, or Japanese? Also was it long or short? If long it could have been a dharani and not a mantra
