Don't stress as in don't worry about not performing the mudras perfectly?
If you do mudras perfectly and also mantras but your mind is somewhere else. Then what is the benefit?
This makes total sense to me now. Sometimes I need someone to point out the obvious to my me.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

that's really hard without having someone teaching them to you... but there is a good course about it. still, if I were you would try to learn them from an instructor. Thanks. There's no active DC centres where I live, so I have to depend on webcasts and stuff. Just thought I'd try here. I'll keep ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Could I please ask for some assistance (via DM) with instructions/details on how to perform some of mudras in the DC practices? I have most of them down but a few are somewhat tricky and I reckon I'm probably not doing them right. :emb: Any help is truly appreciated. Apologies for being a nuisance. ...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

Eh, at the end of the day patriarchy is patriarchy, and misogyny is misogyny. Personally i think it's our job as practitioners to call out oppression when we see it and kindly remind the perpetrators that just like Rhett habe buddha-nature, so do all beings. Even the ones you hate or malign as othe...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

It occurs to me that not only could Matongha and Matangipa be different figures not to be conflated, but that the opposite may well be true. I think it's safe to say that even hagiographies of great masters have been subject to patriarchal bias, so perhaps Matangipa was really a dakini but those wh...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

Might be the Matang(g)ipa (Wyl. ma tang+gi pa ) in the Mar-Ngok Hevajra lineage prayers, where it's implied that he bestowed Hevajra upon Tilopa. According to Thurman, there's also a Mantanggi who was a thief before meeting Nagarjuna. I believe it's from his Jewel Tree of Tibet . Could be the same ...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

I think you know all there is to know. Perhaps ... I can't seem to find anything about this so it's most likely just a coincidence. Matangi also seems to have been an epithet/name that people from "outcaste" clans adopted, so I guess there's definitely a chance that there's been more then one Matan...

Tilopa and Matangi

In the various stories of Tilopa, it is said that he received instructions and teachings from someone ( a dakini? ) named Matangi. Does this Matangi have anything to do with the Shakta mahavidya Matangi , who is often described as a goddess of outcastes - whose practices often challenged the traditi...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

About short or long shadhana, one should put emphasis on quality regardless the lenght of the sadhana. There are short, medium, long, because somethimes we don't have much time to practice, and also some are more essential (short thun), some more linked to request something(medium-long thun), other...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Noob question - is it ok to append the mantra of Vajrasattva to the short Ganapuja ? If so, at which section can this be done? Also, with regards to solitary practice, is there a difference in efficacy between the short/medium/long Thuns and Ganapuja? I understand that longer sessions are particular...

Re: Turning daily life into retreat

Thanks everyone ... It's all very sound advice. I try do 20 minutes of Guru Yoga, at the very least. I'm usually quite diligent for about a month or so - then it gets patchy for a bit. I've been a bit distracted by a medical condition that suddenly flared up but that shouldn't be an excuse. I will w...

Re: Turning daily life into retreat

It's been challenging for me to diligently practice daily. I usually get off work earlier than my wife, so I have at least a couple of hours to myself - time which I should use better. Motivation is a big problem for me. That and the fact that I can be horribly lazy. :?

Re: How do you know you're not just making karma worse??

Karma is a difficult one to figure out. For example: My brother died earlier this year and left a heap of debts that my family and I have to pay for. This lead me to wondering: How can I know if this is due to old debts which were accrued by me towards him that I now have to pay for, OR are these n...

Radish soup is a popular home remedy where I'm from. Some people also consume the leaves. Alternatively, ...
