Re: Karmic consequence of having troubled relations with Gurus

treningday, there are fake lamas out there. fake doesn't mean they are not authorised to teach or don't have all the necessary credentials. fake means they can be lineage holders, high Rinpoches and what not, but somehow they came to the belief that they are there to share their wisdom and to guide ...

Re: Yogachara, the illusory nature of appearances and anxiety

tomdzogchen27, first all, check your psychological background: are you coming from dysfunctional family? have your parents been supporting, caring and loving for you? if they didn't, like many families nowadays, then you may have an additional challenge of love and accepting yourself the way you are...

Re: Origins of Vajrayana

tingdzin, thank you for tips, brother. any particular link you may suggest? i don't see how or why my devotion for Guru Rinpoche will likely be compromised though? i am already not one of those who believe in any banana shape hole in a rock to be a siddhi footprint, yet this did nothing for my faith...

Re: Origins of Vajrayana

Terma, i seek truth, both ultimately as seeing true nature of things and relatively. then i guess i just rely on my self-sincerety and discerment. for example, "Biographies of Rechungpa" was rather groundbreaking reading for me.

Re: Origins of Vajrayana

can be, but from some info hindu practices came first. there is a topic here somewhere that phowa comes from hindu practices. Malcolm said that Sakya believes Cakrasamvara Tantra didn't come from Siddhartha Gautama. i'd like to know if there is academic consensus as to the origins of Cakrasamvara Ta...

Re: Origins of Vajrayana

I also remember Malcolm commented at one point, I think on esangha (I can't find the thread), Chris Fynn, a number of years ago, wrote that his teacher, Kunnu Lama, had met some externally Hindu sadhus in Varanasi in the 1930's, who secretly practiced Chakrasamvara-- he was able to identify these p...

Origins of Vajrayana

there are plenty of posts and topics which covers this matter, but the problem is i don't have any background knowledge and my capabilities for processing huge bulks of academic information and quotations, including controversies between different POVs within academic groups and their respective sup...

Chagchen Chöd vs Dzogchen Chöd

For someone who has only a very superficial understanding of Chöd, is it possible to explain is there any difference between Chöd of Machig Labdron and let's say Trhöma Nakmo Chöd of Dudjom Tersar? I'm not familiar with either of these so please bare with me if my question doesn't have much meaning....

Re: Dudjom Tersar information list

anyone got any info about Jampal Rinpoche? He is the son of Thrinley Norbu and a brother of Dzongsar Khyentse. since Dzognsar Khyentse is technically a sakya and received many teachings outside of Dudjom Tersar, i wonder what is the case with Jampal Rinpoche? https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/v/t51....

thank you magnus. could you please name its lineage holders? if possible, preferably accessible ones who are more like actual humble practitioners not high lamas or Rinpoches (not to say that high lamas or Rinpoches aren't actual humble practitioners..) also, what about Dudjom Tersar in general and ...

thanks Johnny ...Control the body, control the channels; control the channels, control the wind; control the wind, control the bindu. This principle applies all systems of Vajrayāna. Malcolm, so, if Dzogchen is fine with controlling channels, winds and bindu, what the quoted words of Longchenpa actu...
