Re: Finding Your Guru

...Maybe it's not necessary to ask them in a formal way to be your teacher... in my really very humble opinion it is better to show your firm intent for a study and practice. then just put his/her instructions into practice and go with the flow. after certain amount of time your connection will dee...

Re: Kagyu Ngondro/ Dzogchen transmission?

Thank you all for the thoughtful responses. I suppose the primary thing is to let it sink in and not worry about “what’s next.” indeed. just let it go, relax, and do you practice, setting aside all expectations. your mind will resist though) my teacher have done 5 cycles of ngondro, while some of h...

Re: Are men or women more interested in Enlightenment?

The Pew Research Center studies linked to above show that women are globally more religious than men across the board with few exceptions. If true, child rearing would appear to be either irrelevant or somehow conducive to religiosity. personally i see huge difference between being religious and be...

justsit, yep, you are correct, not u.s. well then, it's nice to know! i wish they be a tad more open about it, even if only here on DW because it's really inspiring - at least to me as a male. perhaps it would be inspiring for other women as well who are at spiritual crossroad at their lives.. some ...

Re: Tibetan Yogis & Their Multiple Yoginis Wives

Togden Shakya Shri have had several consorts as mentioned in his biography by Kathog Situ Rinpoche. He also had numerous children. In this regard there are mentions of other masters who have taken consorts at some point in their practice, like Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, Khamtrul Rinpoche, etc. In Adzo...

Re: three year retreat experiences?

I’m going to speak Kagyu heresy and float the idea that maybe Kongtrul’s 3 year retreat formula isn’t the best vehicle for transmitting Dharma to the West. Maybe people should learn fewer practices and learn to actually master them. Perhaps something like Ngondro, Shamans & Chenrezig. As it is now ...

no idea who said that. found it on the web some time ago. ...It is so difficult to see friends and lovers and wealth as futile, because for most of us that’s the only reference that we have. That’s the only cocoon or cage or hide-out that we have, even though so-called lovers and friends and relativ...

Re: Tibetan Masters' advice on dealing with loneliness

I think you're right to avoid non-buddhists, dating and befriending them is a waste of time. This is absolutely not true. A very general and pretty closed minded attitude if you ask me. I think you're right to avoid non-buddhists, dating and befriending them is a waste of time. Complete and utter n...
