Re: Yidam vs Dakini practice benefits

Dakinis can be yidam practices, for instance. Yidam practice brings accomplishment because it is that which engages one's own skandhas, etc. Thank you Cone for your input in this thread. The same would apply to "Guru as Yidam" practices, right? One wouldn't need to worry that is "onl...

Re: Active Dzogchen Teachers 2023

Elias Capriles has told me that in all his life he has met but a handful of "Western" people who have recognised rigpa -- less than a dozen, he said, when I grilled him a little. Was it arrogant of him to say so? I do not think so. Arrogance is the very last thing I would see in Elias. ha...

Re: Questions about riwo sangchöd

What are the benefits of doing this practice? I like this short explanation from A Guide to the Practice of Sang by Dodrupchen Jigme Tenpe Nyima: https://www.lotsawahouse.org/tibetan-masters/dodrupchen-III/guide-sang-practice "Now, the topic of discussion is as follows: it is by making illusor...

Re: Questions about riwo sangchöd

I read a comment by HH Dudjom Rinpoche that Riwo Sangcho is one of the most powerful practices for benefiting deceased. Is there a additional RS liturgy for that purpose? Thank you! Sangyum Kamala, Jadral Rinpoche's Consort, often adds in sur. In that case, She sometimes writes the name of any rece...

Re: Shitro for the deceased

thank you all! You can do Korwa Dongtruk. but this one never did in my life. my main concern was if this specific practices for deceased have still more benefit (done by someone not used to it) than lets say standard Guru Rinpoche sadhana one was doing for years I can't speak to Korwa Dongtruk, but...

Shitro for the deceased

I understand that Shitro is usually recommended to practice for friends who passed away. I received the transmission and instructions from CHNNR but never practiced it regularly. So in that case would it be more beneficial to “send light” and chant the mantra of the yidam one is most familiar with o...

Re: Do you need initiation / transmission of the Longchen Nyingtik Ngondro?

AFAIK there is no "initiation" for the ngondro, though an empowerment for Vajrasattva would be preferred. But transmission is a very good idea--I imagine it will be the "lung," and possibly some explanation. Normally, in Longchen Nyingthik, one first receives the Rigdzin Dupa wa...

Re: Vajrayana practices to help with exhaustion/depression

Hi All, Wasn't sure if I should ask this in the Tibetan Buddhism section or Help Required. Are there any Buddhist practices you would recommend to help support treating emotional exhaustion or depression? I follow Vajrayana, but I'm open to other suggestions too. I had prolonged stress from a famil...

Never had any problem. Malcolm, I understood you are a Dzogchen practitioner, why would you practice Tummo, is it mainly for longevity? I was in a long Lamdre retreat between 1993-1997, where it was very cold in the winter. Often, when I woke up in the morning, there was a film of ice on my offerin...
