Re: original as misnomer

Therefore, if you students of the Way seek to progress through seeing, hearing, feeling, and knowing, when you are deprived of your perceptions, your way to Mind will be cut off, and you will find nowhere to enter. ? I try to understand: then these senses are like solid fish hooks, fishing phenomen...

Re: original as misnomer

my instincts tell me that buddhism is about stripping away the layers: thus, the mirror analogy is a flawed metaphor since it is using an image There is for such an analogy as well, the onion and can be useful as well. May be encouraging, I mean that at least delusions - conditioned through karmic ...

Re: Competitive meditators...

Sigh. May all beings be happy... Fully agree! Suffering guaranteed if competition is experienced, but good joke! I meditate extremely well. Nobody meditates better than I do. I have great relationships with some gurus, but I am actually the most spiritual person around. I guarantee it. *May all be ...

Re: original as misnomer

I often come across references to Original Mind, Nature, etc.in discussions of Buddhism (especially Zen). Please let me know your understanding on Original Mind, Nature, True Self, etc., children as Boddhisatva, etc. i hope the differences in our opinions will lead us both to a better understanding...

Re: Proper Buddhist meditation room

Perhaps we can ask our guidance because it depends? :buddha1: Some ideas: There is for example a difference between Tibetan and Zen room. In Zen, there seems to be inspiration by great tool, by pointing to what always is because of its "emptiness"... Tibetan room then, is pointing to the colorful ra...

Re: escape from samsara

how is it that one can escape the round of becoming? It seems that even the Buddha, who was awakened, was subject to becoming until his death. Purifying own perception while embracing all and all at the same time? Okay, sounds perhaps cliché. Shamatha-Vipashyana? Four Noble Truths....http://viewonb...

Re: escape from samsara

Emaho! Nature may be compared to a vast ocean. Thousands and millions of changes are taking place in it. Crocodiles and fish are essentially of the same substance as the water in which they live. People are crowded together with the myriad other things in the Great Changingness, and their nature is ...

Re: escape from samsara

Gratitude! *** inseparable two truths *** ...which are not two. Language is limited, but to be able to use it to put a light on indescribable nature, is itself without words so to speak. Look at the causative phenomena, one’s own body, possessions, surrounding people, friend, enemy, sense ob...

Re: rebirth the ultimate interconnection?

So am i taking things a step too far if i posit that rebirth is a type of interconnection? Definitely not. You could even go so far as to say that all beings have at one point been your mother. :smile Oh no! This is a step too far. "I" want to get out of here, where is the exit of nature - net? :al...

Re: rebirth the ultimate interconnection?

A step too far. It depends, since also interconnected. But then is there a step too far, as a step out of the net of Indra? Since there is 'no being' existing out of itself, can there be birth out of itself without causes and conditions? (12 links of dependence...) Mind or body, or both, or a perhap...

Re: authorization

I should not say it like that, Clyde. Rather * Bodhichitta * or * Wisdom-Compassion is the very teacher * Guiding Bodhichitta inviting in what is to know . And that is at least for delusions like me not knowing phenomena/things/ones. Example: "Don’t investigate the root of things, Investigate the ro...

You don't work on IT (truth, realization, enlightenment, awareness, whatever) ... IT works on you. Emaho. Merrily Merrily Meryly Streep... actors of our own dream we are. Still so very very sad! Identification with a self and its world, thereby jealousy, greed, frustrations, anger unfortunately cau...

Re: authorization

:namaste: The very authorization must be by Bodhichitta for the welfare of all and all. So for the welfare of the teacher and all students till nature of teacher – students is fully recognized-actualized ( or how I must say that...). At least this is how i see it, therefore do not merely accept this...

Re: Accept everything or change something?

Yes, true, Sadhaka. That is probably why there is said: help first yourself and then all. Helping ourselves by opening heart-mind for all. At least so according to advice of "Primordial Goodness". Perhaps mindfulness can help to be aware of own mind and so behavior ( see the rubbish my mind is fille...

Re: Accept everything or change something?

Hello friends, Should I accept everything as is (meditate, see dependent origination of all things, all things are empty of inherent existence, wisdom of discernment, wisdom of sameness, etc...)? Should I change something (tackle conflicted mental states, learn to love others with tonglen practice,...

Re: Two months of writing.

The first and second poem from today looks like saying that real love is never binding. There is no higher Love then the help to free all. Let all be free. Of course it says much more but this I pick out. In the last poem you write: "I just want to get out of here, I stare at myself in the mirror an...

So wonderful, Kevin! I hadn't seen that. I find here just some words (in which the Paramitas are somehow reflecting as well )from Kanchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche, Amazing Compassionate teacher. It is important to realize that enlightenment is totally dependent upon your own effort. It is not ...

If a child, a child cries would you not forgive them?
