Re: ahimsa and pest control

A true story. When CTR was abbot of Samye Ling he inherited a large colony of rats that came with the building. Most of the time the humans and rats coexisted, although they (the rats) often stole foodstuffs used in pujas. But around that time it became clear that the local authorities were taking ...

Re: ahimsa and pest control

The operation of karma does not change. This is often brought up here, as it is a mistake to think that karma does not apply just because of some insight into emptiness. :good: However there are karmic cycles where you are basically forced to commit negative actions in order to survive. If you try ...

Re: Big messages to deplorables ???

Maybe thousands of people should all go out and buy one of those jackets and during Trump's next election campaign use it as a media stunt at every opportunity - show it whenever cameras are rolling, put it on posters, social media etc. Every little helps. As for Lady Melatonin, Trump invented the i...

Has Garchen Rinpoche ever given an online empowerment of Troma Nagmo? There are pdf files around of Garchen Rinpoche's teachings on Chod. I'm not sure of the status of the file but there may be some useful info for you in it? https://www.holybooks.com/wp-content/uploads/Chod-teachings-Garchen-Rinpo...

And once again they managed to deflect the issue away from the real problem to what Melania was wearing. Hook, line and sinker... At least we know that Melanoma Trumpf is about as reliable as those supermodels who protested against furs and then wore them at the next year's fashion shows; she's pro...

I called you a blithering fool, not ChNN! :P
ChNN by inference, as it was he I quoted.

I resemble that remark, however. ;)

I find phenomena are always symbolic and dream-like right up until they punch you in the inherently empty face and you impute suffering. ;)

Re: Dharmapalas and Consorts

Where did you get the idea that there arent female raksha? Where did you get the idea that masculinity is more powerful or "superior" in the teachings or worldly life? Za Rahula have four consorts. /magnus afaik this is a Vajrapani Buddha manifestation in the common form of the so called Gyalpos......

Indeed, which is why I used 'unified'. I'm aware that some use 'neutral' or even worse, 'eunuch'. Either we say he is neither one gender nor the other, or is both genders unified and therefore neither one nor the other. Are you saying it is nothing to do with gender at all and 'nondual' in another ...

Re: Dharmapalas and Consorts

In Kamtsang Bernakchen and Palden Lhamo most often practiced together. There are several forms of Mahakala that are Yabyum, of course. So it's seems pretty clear that Enlightened protectors can have consorts. There are worldly protectors, as well, that have consorts, as noted here. In fact, some wo...

Re: Dzogchen Community Naga Rite

Full moon day is the best day this month, but tomorrow is a good day too. Full Moon day is not listed as positive for Naga Puja in the DC Calendar. Other practices, yes, but next positive day for Naga Puja in the DC is 2nd July. The Drukpa Calendar agrees. ;) I go with Lama Chodak's calendar. Gener...

Re: Dzogchen Community Naga Rite

Here's a picture of the Dujom Naga torma. Sorry, don't seem to be able to make this work and don't know how to delete. Anyway, it's basically a zhay-se (food offering torma) with four-colored jewels, a Naga over the top, and kar-gyen with jewels. There's no link to the image, so I'm not surprised. ...

Re: Dharmapalas and Consorts

Some Dharmapalas, like Za Rahula, have consorts. Is this common, and does it indicate a level of enlightenment as opposed to being wordly? that class doesn't have females, so to me it indicated power, dominion, superiority, etc. it is part of the retinue. Where did you get the idea that there arent...

So do we swallow the explanation for leaving the UNHCR?

He's right that other members are abusing human rights.

He's right that Israel's abuses are being singled out for special treatment.

I just wonder if he aspires to join the club of ever more extreme human rights abusers himself.

Re: Thoughts on Dzogchen without buddhism?

People. I think we have solved the "preliminaries" issue. It is off-topic anyway, so back to the topic please. :focus: Apparently not. Maybe if we tried 'Post-DI-minaries' ? Seriously, though, they are germane to the topic as without them none of us would make much progress. We could drag it kicking...
