Re: Opening oneself to others

study normaly and must also devotedly practice an avalokiteshvara method. you must persevere on the practice part, it is supposed that the study should lead you to a determination, a resoltion, but i say because someones don't see the results even if they are inmediate, so dont give it up. Re: Opening oneself to others

I think, you know the answer, as expressed in your last paragraph. Maybe this can be handled by going back to the basics, examining "who" is being defensive, "who" is shutting things off. I would say, spend some time on that. Really spend a week focused on that and see what happens. In my own exper...

Opening oneself to others

Any thoughts on practices to help make oneself more open and warm hearted to others, generally or specifically. I'd like to be more open generally, but I notice myself closing off in relation to my parents in particular, shutting down, being unreasonably irritated etc. The other place I've noticed i...

Re: The nature of European monarchies

Remember when I posted the photo earlier of the queen and asked people if they knew where she got the gold piano from? Nobody offered an answer so I will give it here: It was looted from Saddam Hussein's palace in Iraq by the English military and gifted to the royal family. That is how the English ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

What are the implications of just receiving a mantra from a practice, but not the full lung. Rinpoche seemed to quite often transmit a few mantras independently from the full practice. in particular, this time last year at the Dzamling Gar Ati Yoga retreat. Rinpoche gave transmitted the three main J...

Re: Buddhist Authorities Hunt Down Monk For Being Too Ripped

No I'm not and you're wrong. Most guys with normal genetics can look like the monk with some protein and dedication. Do you even lift bro? No, a person with normal genetics cannot look like that "with some protein and dedication". Do you know how many protein supplements have steroids in t...

How long were the stream? I didn't watch last 15 minutes. Can I continue this seminar? I can't pay for recordings.
You should email them with your situation. I'm sure you'll be allowed to register anyway. Only the first 3 days are going to be streamed to those who aren't registered.

Re: Learning Tibetan

Esukhia's good, but very different. They're less structured, and mainly focused on spoken Tibetan, at least initially. Their approach is basically learn by doing i.e. trying to speak with a language partner. Very good if that's what your after. The RYI courses are the other end of the spectrum. Thei...

Innately present primordial wisdom

I'm trying to figure out a Tibetan phrase that Khenpo Sonam of Lhündrup Chöling Dharma Center translates as innately present primordial wisdom, or innately abiding wisdom. It sounds like 'len shes rgyas pa’i yeshe' but that doesn't make any sense so can't be right. Can anyone figure out what the act...

Re: Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Has Attained Parinirvana

ChNN and his senior students have defined exactly what we should be practising at this time. Of course, people who follow other Gurus may wish to follow their advice instead. If you follow both, I would still adhere to the wishes of ChNN and not mix things. the seniors mix namcho with longsal :shru...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Are there any more elaborate explanations available of the Guru Yoga of the White A practice that we're focusing on just now?

I have the Guruyoga book, which has a nice, very concise commentary, but I could use a little more elaboration.

I have the same sort of background as you, and sometimes wonder about this. I was recommended just today this book, which came out recently: https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-golden-age-of-indian-buddhist-philosophy-9780198732662 For Tibetan Buddhism, either of John Powers' introductions ...
