godspeed bro. Re: Is it rare to spend time with your guru?

... Thanks for sharing. Wonderful story, and very inspiring. As soon as we met (at His house in Delhi's Defense Colony), He said He had been waiting for me. I immediately recognized Him as my Guru. He gave me refuge and Bodhisatva vows on His veranda along with a very short, very special ngon-dro r...

I only caught snippets of today as I was working, but wow that sounded like a great session.

Looking forward to catching up on the replay.

Re: Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche - online seminar on the "Union of Dzogchen & Mahamudra"

Yes, I hope they improve on that in the future. As far as I know, this is their first time broadcasting a whole retreat live, so I'm sure they'll iron out the problems with practice. I'm just happy they've started doing this! I've mostly been watching the replays, but watched day 5 live, which was p...

Re: Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche - online seminar on the "Union of Dzogchen & Mahamudra"

Did you all pay 30 dollars? I couldn't. I saw only 3 days. I'd suggest emailing them to ask if you can pay a bit less. Day 4 and particularly 5 were excellent. Registration is still open for a couple more days, and you can watch them back on the recordings. I shouldn't really be spending extra mone...

Yes, they're not broadcasting the empowerment. I'm not sure when/if we're getting more streaming today.

Re: Favorite Madhyamika Book

I've not read it yet but I did hear a fascinating talk from Prof. Komarovski partly around the same topic as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Visions-Unity-Chokdens-Interpretation-Madhyamaka/dp/1438439105/ref=sr_1_2 Seems like it would be an interesting read to go along with the usual suspects on Madh...

Re: Yuthok nyingthik ( your views? )

I’ve come to realised that perhaps the ngondro Everyday thing for me didn’t really work out for me, so maybe a more “ concised “ one could help, lest I become stressed and uptight again. I'm not sure a different, shorter ngöndro will help the issue you're having. I presume you want to develop some ...

Re: Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche - online seminar on the "Union of Dzogchen & Mahamudra"

Confusing. What are the hours? Was there a second session on Saturday? On the website there are two Saturday videos, and I could swear there was no mention of the second session... There are supposed to be two sessions with a short break in between. But on the first day Rinpoche kept going, making ...

Somebody said the replay was available on the Dharma Sun website. I can't seem to find it on the website, does anyone have a link? You need to be logged into the website, then go here: https://dharmasun.org/courses/mahamudra-dzogchen/ You may need to register and pay for the full seminar as well, I...

Are there any short and highly effective sadhanas in Tibetan Buddhism that can be performed daily by busy laypeople? Something that doesn't require lengthy visualizations or hours of repeating sacred texts? Treasury of Blessings: https://lhaseylotsawa.org/texts/the-treasury-of-blessings-lotsawa-hou...

Growing a Dharma community

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of growing a community in their area, or finding enough interested people to host occasional events. I'd love to bring some teachers to my city, even if it means stumping up a lot of the cost myself, but there's not a big Dharma scene there. There's just ...

Re: Importance of Secrecy in Secret Mantra

Organisations such as ChNN's Shang Shung Institute have images of Yidams etc. on the pages of their web stores. ChNN gives open webcasts showing images and giving mantras to anyone who tunes in, over which there is no control, as does Garchen Rinpoche. Others post videos on Facebook and Youtube etc...

Re: Importance of Secrecy in Secret Mantra

Of course this is just false. What part of it is false? Even you should probably qualify what you say when having to speak down to us mere mortals, though I'm sure it's a real pain to do so, especially when we peskily disagree. Samaya is not just something teachers are able to abrogate on their mer...
