Re: Visualisations and Dzogchen

:good: Visualisations or rather the capacity to create images in your mind are natural. A big part of our conceptual mind deals with images. If you think about someone you know there will immediately be an image in your mind. Visualisations are 3D, you are not supposed visualise a flat deity. Visual...

Re: three year retreat experiences?

:good: Initially the biggest obstacle was getting used to sleeping in a meditation box. After the first month, in exasperation, I tossed my cushion on the plywood floor and tried to sleep on the ground—but that was even worse. So I climbed back into the box—slowly, by about the 3rd or 4th month—I gr...

Re: Cost of retreats USA vs. EUR

From personal experience i have seen a lot of difference in cost depending or not whether the centre is bringing a teacher in from India/ Nepal etc. Obviously then there are more extensive costs involved. If the teacher is resident and the teaching is in an established centre then I cannot see why c...

Interesting, would like to visit this on next visit to KTM. I was a video a year or so back of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche giving 1000 Buddha empowerment in Nepal..maybe it was here. Re: Tara’s Triple Excellence

Hi Glad the info was helpful. Of course nothing beats personal access to a teacher and depending on where you live this just means trying to get to somewhere they are teaching. Both Chokyi Nyima Rinloche and Lama Tenzin travel quite a lot in summer months so hopefully you could meet them. Lama Tenzi...

Re: The Three Yanas, Ringu Rinpoche

In practice, with the internet and social media it is harder for bad teachers to continue on without backlash, this is one good thing. You can crowdsource your 12 years. I’ve heard the suggestion that the easiest way to check out a lama is to talk to the lama’s ex -students. I would think that is t...
