Re: The DJKR Topic

Further instructions from the practice mentioned above...In the space before you, imagine your own guru in the form of Vajradhara or whichever buddha inspires you. Through associating ourselves with the awakened mind of the guru we connect with the essence of our own enlightened mind. The guru’s awa...

Re: The DJKR Topic

You may have been taught sequentially the guru-yoga, but this is not true for all traditions. Here is what Mingyur Rinpoche teaches from day 1: Ultimately, I am the same as the guru in essence, For the nature of the student is the same as that of all the buddhas. Source/context plz. From the practi...

Re: The DJKR Topic

I read it, thought it mildly amusing but was suprised how much effort went into putting it together.. Was it worth it...who knows? We don’t even know for sure that Rinpoche wrote it... but yes it has got everyone buzzing around with the loud noise of right and wrong once more.

Re: karmapa dispute and nydahl group

Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche is usually controversial, sharp tongued and also very close to Sogyal Rinpoche. I think it is good to her the views of both sides...this would not stop me receiving teachings off OTR.

Re: Without Requirement

Treasury of Blessings Shakyamuni Sadhana composed by Mipham Rinpoche is a great practice you can do alone or with a group without empowerment. It is great if you can get the oral transmission at some point. Here is an english version of the practice. https://www.bodhicittasangha.org/wp-content/uploa...

Re: Buddhist Deities

I'm not keen on 'true for you'', that's simple relativism. I believe the wisdom beings and deities are real, if they're aspects of mind, that is true in a sense much more profound than psychology would fathom. Not mind, the nature of mind. /magnus Obviously they can not be reduced only to that, sin...

Not sure when but the hindu traditions at some point welcomed him into the fold of avatars. He is regarded as the 8th i think. Hindus believe in 10 main avatars but there are countless others they accept including jesus . The hindu concept of das avatar( 10 descents of the diving into human) could b...

Does anybody know how OKC is functioning at the moment? There wasn't a lot of discussion about it here on DW (cf. Rigpa/Sogyal (!)). There is some discussion at the bottom of the article in the OP: https://buddhism-controversy-blog.com/2017/03/11/robert-spatz-the-ogyen-kunsang-choling-cults-guru-ge...

Re: Refuge and the different school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Hello all, Recently, I received preliminary practices from a Lama of the Gelug tradition, but have not been able to take refuge as I live very far from any Lama. Soon, I will have an opportunity to visit a Sakya monastery in Seattle and was wondering if there would be any conflict if I took refuge ...
