It starts at the foundational level, four noble truths, four mind chantings and builds gradually up into the path of Mahayana...sixn paramita s etc and then into Vajrayana. Although I have been a practicioner for quite s...

Re: Taking Empowerment as a Blessing

when common people goes around for blessing from an empowerment I would say they want a mundane blessing. they want the world, they don't want to free themselves. if this isn't degeneration I don't know what is it. Maybe we should all be interviewed at the door..maybe interrogated is a better word....

Re: What's the point of abusive gurus?

Interesting to read about low self esteem and the reasons for it. One time in an interview with Tai Situ Rinpoche be talked about when 16th Karmapa asked him to come to the west to teach. He was unsure how to go about this, he had little experience of the west at that time. He told Karmapa, " I don'...

Re: Disagreeing with Guru

Matthew, given you don't have a guru, I fail to see why you should be concerned. Um I think I do. I’ve been visiting a Karma Kagyu Lama and have received some transmissions from him. And when I do visit him, I considered him my guru. Unless you’re telling me This doesn’t constitute a vajrayana guru...

Re: Am I meditating correctly?

They both sound good to me. The open awareness practice is taught a lot by Mingyur Rinpoche as a pre cursor to mahamudra/ Dzogchen practice later on. There is nothing special about the breath..simply a support.

Re: Online Ngondro programs

If all goes well, I want to attend the UK retreat. It seems there is already a detailed schedule for Austria but not for the UK. In UK Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche will teach on the text by Karma Chagme" Union of mahamudra and dzogchen"also on The Aspiration prayer of Samantabhadra as well as giving a num...

Before people go torching Amazon stores, it may be worth remember that it is not Amazon selling these goods, but a private seller who is using Amazon space. Amazon are prob noteven aware of it. Maybe pressure could be directed to that company.

I heard recently that Chogyam Trungpa was the first teacher in the tibetan tradition to encourage group silent sitting.

For Vajrayana practitioners Yanglesho/Asura cave is as important as Bodh Gaya so it is said.
