Re: Mahabuddha Temple, Kathmandhu

Interesting, would like to visit this on next visit to KTM. I was a video a year or so back of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche giving 1000 Buddha empowerment in Nepal..maybe it was here. Out of curiosity does anyone know anything about 1000 Buddha empowerment? Where can I find info? Have googled but not much ...

Re: Tara’s Triple Excellence

Hi Glad the info was helpful. Of course nothing beats personal access to a teacher and depending on where you live this just means trying to get to somewhere they are teaching. Both Chokyi Nyima Rinloche and Lama Tenzin travel quite a lot in summer months so hopefully you could meet them. Lama Tenzi...

Re: Tara’s Triple Excellence

Hi. I have been practicing the T.T.E. Program for a number of years. So firstly it will be more than a 2 year program. It is arranged in modules with an equal emphasis on study and practice. The first excellence focuses on foundational teachings...e.g. Four mind changings, Four noble Truths , Refuge...

Re: The Three Yanas, Ringu Rinpoche

In practice, with the internet and social media it is harder for bad teachers to continue on without backlash, this is one good thing. You can crowdsource your 12 years. I’ve heard the suggestion that the easiest way to check out a lama is to talk to the lama’s ex -students. I would think that is t...

Thanks, I was not intending to criticize just lose a question. Sorry for any offence. As has been said most of not all reports of this Lama are positive. However the only query i have and it is really not important as i don't study with him is the fact that he does not encourage you to go to other t...

Re: The Three Yanas, Ringu Rinpoche

This idea of checking out a teacher for 8 or 12 years is fine and dandy... but time is running out.. Do we really have the luxury of time...????

Re: How to become enlightened via Tibetan Buddhism?

For some years I have been following the online Tara Triple Excellence program. It starts at the foundational level, four noble truths, four mind chantings and builds gradually up into the path of Mahayana...sixn paramita s etc and then into Vajrayana. Although I have been a practicioner for quite s...

Re: Taking Empowerment as a Blessing

when common people goes around for blessing from an empowerment I would say they want a mundane blessing. they want the world, they don't want to free themselves. if this isn't degeneration I don't know what is it. Maybe we should all be interviewed at the door..maybe interrogated is a better word....

Re: What's the point of abusive gurus?

Interesting to read about low self esteem and the reasons for it. One time in an interview with Tai Situ Rinpoche be talked about when 16th Karmapa asked him to come to the west to teach. He was unsure how to go about this, he had little experience of the west at that time. He told Karmapa, " I don'...

Re: Disagreeing with Guru

Matthew, given you don't have a guru, I fail to see why you should be concerned. Um I think I do. I’ve been visiting a Karma Kagyu Lama and have received some transmissions from him. And when I do visit him, I considered him my guru. Unless you’re telling me This doesn’t constitute a vajrayana guru...

Re: Am I meditating correctly?

They both sound good to me. The open awareness practice is taught a lot by Mingyur Rinpoche as a pre cursor to mahamudra/ Dzogchen practice later on. There is nothing special about the breath..simply a support.

Don't rush too far ahead of be swayed by people in here. Begin with simple practices that you can maintain...refuge, four immeasurable and maybe look into the four noble truths and six paramitas. ..learning, reflecting and meditating.
