Re: Pagan Deity Propitiation by Dharma Siblings

Worldly dieites can be benficial for worldly activity. What would you say about buddhists going to hindu temples or churches...would you worry about this?

There is a good explanation here of the meaning of devotional chanting in tibetan buddhsim in this video by the american Lama, Tulku Sherdor.

Re: Kyabgön Phakchok rinpoche

As far as what questions to ask, in my experience with teachers: ask Dharma questions or questions about medicine, astrology, divination, etc, but don't ask worldly questions (unless you really want to). Also be careful how you phrase things. If tells you to do a certain practice, you really should...

Re: Spirit attack

I'm very reluctant to be making this thread, but it feels like I have to as I have nowhere else to turn. For the past year or so I have been experiencing medical troubles. In recent months I have been having repetitive dreams of being attacked by a spirit. The spirit appears in many different guise...

I believe on lhasey lotsawa it says the text is for those who have received transmission ‘ and Permission’ by one of the Rinpoche’s.
Just checked and yes at the end of the text this is what it says.

Re: Public vs Private Mala???

Shall keep that in mind and to heart. Also does the public mala need to be blessed before being used? I assume if I get new private mala,I need it to be blessed by lama first before using it. I have done several retreats with the Lama that gave me this information. He say like this: 1. Always get y...

Re: Kyabgön Phakchok rinpoche

So, after 2 days of attending his teachings, I feel an immense devotion to him and very inspired by him. First of all I would really want to say he is a very good talker and he can keep the crowd interested as far as I think. So, to the people who are very close with him , what kind of teacher is h...

Re: Kyabgön Phakchok rinpoche

Erh quick question : does he not favours people who are unconfident ,not independent and shy ? ( I’m not trying to say something bad I am just curious ) ( he is very nice ) Have no idea as to why this question is asked or of an answer. My experience is that there are all sorts of students comng to ...

Re: Kyabgön Phakchok rinpoche

As Heart says above, Phakchok Rinpoche is very unique, he is modern in his way of presenting dharma but when it comes to oractice vey traditional. As you probably know by now he is straight talking but with great sense of humour. He cares vey much for his students and has designed a number of progra...

Re: Public vs Private Mala???

I know very little about this subject but what i have heard from my teacher is that a mala is not just for counting mantras. It is a samaya substance, a sacred substance,It is a manifestation of the yidam, obviously when we consecrate a mala this is more obvious. I guess speak to a teacher who is mo...

Re: The Future

Dharma is doing very well in many parts of the Far East. Perhaps us westerners are too impatient. We want to talk about it, read about it, teach it.. but practice it.. this is where perhaps we lack the diligence. Dharma centres seem to be a western invention. Often more of a social gathering than a ...

Re: The Future

Vajrayana may have reached a peak in the 70’s as was mentioned.. but what kind of peak? There was a lot of interest among young people but not sure how much practice. Nowadays there are far more translators and also translations of texts and practices, far more guidance available and i think a lot m...

Unsubstantiated gossip by somebody with a chip on their shoulder. We are really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel with this thread.
Here , here....Is the way of tibetan buddhism in the 21 century...name calling, juvenile gossip mongering. How sad.

Re: Ole Nydahl´s sectarian meltdown

I do think it is odd for centres to invite Lamas without his approval, however. At the least, pretty rude. It might seem as rude but both Dupseng Rinpoche and Chogyal Rinpoche are Karma Kagyu teachers, followers of same Karmapa candidate as Ole. Ole claims that his organization is a part of Karma K...

Re: Ole Nydahl´s sectarian meltdown

This has a Nyingma origin but i think is relevant here. “One of the more extraordinary features among the infinite qualities of the great tertön Dilgo Khyentse, whose learning, discipline, and nobility, as well as his teaching, debate, and composition, were matchless, was that he was extremely conce...

Likewise we humans are in our cages waiting to die...doesnt mean there are no bodhisattvas working for us right now
