Re: private teaching

[/quote] Dzogchen teachings are always from the top Lee. However that doesn't mean that you don't do mind trainings, Ngondro, Kyerim, Dzogrim and so on. It means that you do those practices in an other way than if you where following a from the bottom up kind of approach. You really need to take you...

Re: private teaching

Lee, I admire your enthusiasm and motivation . With regards to the last point of developing a connection with the teache if you only see them a couple of times a year. From personal experience i have found that this can be done. For rather than developing a close physical connection it is the confi...

Re: private teaching

As Magnus/ Heart says , it is through courses and retreats that we develop confidence and trust in the teacher and what is taught. Take your time, if you are able visit a centre or a teacher from time to time. Be wary of some groups who ‘ throw’ students into a teachers role...... There are also so...

Re: private teaching

Not sure what centres you have been to in UK but if they have a resident lama, or one who spends time there it should be easy enough to arrange one to one instruction from time to time. Hhave you had a problem with this in the past? i have a few centres fairly close to me, no less than 50 miles awa...

private teaching

Hi everyone, Please don't ban me if this is not allowed. I seem to be having issues with finding a school that will teach to me personally on a regular basis, and this makes me wonder, is there anyone here or can recommend any authentic teachers who will willingly take on a fresh student to learn sy...

Re: receiving transmission

im going to settle back down now and just read what i already have that is not restricted and then go to the pundarika retreats, in terms of sms i think that might have to wait as weekly travels to london is fairly far for me right now. Re: receiving transmission

can secondary practices from other traditions be used? i already have a deep background in alchemic practices and was wondering if that could be used as secondary itself? Other traditions by definition don't have the same base, path and fruit or view, meditation and conduct so to mix the two would ...

Re: receiving transmission

well i attended the wwt yesterday but am also going to be going to the pundarika retreat next year. My main need for wanting to know the structure of dzogchen is simply because the books i have read so far talk about learning exactly what dzogchen is prior to having a direct introduction. obviously ...

Re: receiving transmission

so with the practice of dzogchen i can literally use any type of practice, as long as it enables one to recognise and cultivate the state of rigpa? so if theirs no actual structure then why does such practices like trekcho and togal require certain experience that is not simply just a deep experienc...

Re: receiving transmission

and another thing im very unsure about is, does one practice the preliminaries before or after the direct introduction. from what i can grasp of the teaching is, it really depends on the master who you are learning under. from what i get from various books is either way whether or not you have a dir...

Re: receiving transmission

thats exactly the reason as to why i asked, if this is also a direct transmission, then what need is the participation of guruyoga, in order to receive the state of rigpa, if the state of rigpa is being transmitted then surely the need to do the guruyoga to just receive the state is dualistic. I wil...

Re: receiving transmission

would the transmission still work if one was to meditate on the 3 main areas during the event, the base, the heart and the crown. would this still work? or does the transmissions have to be of the same as the master transmitting

Hi all,

I woke up not feeling very well today and today of all days is the wwt.

I am wondering what method can i use to receive the transmission that is not guruyoga, something that i can do whilst not feeling well that will still enable me to enter the state of rigpa?

Thank you

Re: Dzogchen View on Soma

Yes the use of psychoactive substances, mushrooms to be more specific. I don't think they could be used as a secondary for GuruYoga as such, but as a practice for ego break downs, they show very promising effects talking from both my first-hand experience and the research that's recently been going ...
