The Artis Magistra Explains Posts Meanings: Ask Questions!

I created this thread since some people may not have understood my writing lately or my intentions or reasonings, so I will copy paste a very short explanation I wrote in a message just now but also invite any of you to ask me whatever or for further clarification on anything you would like to know ...

Re: Reliance on Rites and Rituals

I wasn't suggesting that it was obvious, just that Buddhism is about the obvious, and lots of people over-complicate it for themselves and get confused, its not your fault or anything, you brought up good questions and points.

Yeah, Buddhism is actually pretty straightforward and about the obvious. If people go too far they can confuse themselves too much and over-step the mark.

Re: "Liberation through seeing" tattoo

HI The Artis Magistra, I believe I can further the explanation of what user Climb Up has explained Sak yant tattoos are essentially prayers/mantras that are specifically for tattooing on the body. These tattoos are usually given out by those who have been trained in this art and require special pra...

Should these people look for professional help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvK7PGRdDW8 Didn´t know this nonsense existed untily few days ago. :rolling: What the heck? So here is an opportunity to see various wasteful ways of reacting to this, and other ways, the other way might be to see what ...

Re: Does matter exist without consciousness?

Does matter exist without consciousness? Does matter need a conscious observer for it to exist? Without consciousness does anything exist? Does karma create matter? Does matter arise from karma? Wow, great question. What we know or refer to as "matter" can not be established as having any existence...

Re: Practical Recognition of Ignorance

If you're interested, Ignorance in some contexts may refer to the state prior to generation of information, the state before there is information. All things that are, thus stem from Ignorance. Ignorance leads to efforts that generate information.

Re: When the Earth is a Cinder

Haha, if you were not being sarcastic, it would be a very interesting conclusion to reach based on what I've written. I really wish you could do that, even though I never suggested anything like that at all. Just being is inclusive of those things or can be, all I was saying is that one needn't be ...

emceecombs, I hope you don't mind too terrible, and its ok if you don't want to, but I think I could benefit greatly from hearing more about your personal story and how you used to experience Mormonism, interpret it, how you became attracted to Buddhism, and the whole thing up until now. The reason ...

I haven't read much of what is in this thread, but I am responding to the title of this thread and this is the lounge, so I hope you don't mind terribly. I don't think there is anything to really fear regarding the Earth being destroyed, it will be destroyed when it is time for it to be destroyed a...

Re: US Mormons Engage in Buddhist Mindfulness Practices

This thread bothered me and made me feel a bit ill. What bothered me is the kind of dislike I sense behind these terms, or even feel as well. People are practicing techniques. These people claim to adhere to Mormonism, which has certain ideas about certain things. LGBT was brought up as if Buddhism...

Re: Veganism is an Eating Disorder

Yes there are sutras which talk about Vegetarianism or have made many people vegetarians, they can be found online as well. Plants are also full living creatures which also seem to feel distress or send out distress signals, and humans also have reactive mechanisms which work in very much the same w...

I was suggesting they monitor their reasoning and really that they might consider practicing more in regular circumstances than anything too sudden, abrasive, or ha...

Re: Veganism is an Eating Disorder

If someone thinks Veganism = Buddhism, they may be wrong and confused. Veganism is whatever Veganism is or is said to be, Buddhism is whatever it is. I think the real trouble I see sometimes are people saying or thinking that Veganism is Buddhism. They may lead to one another in some ways, but one b...
