Kalacakra Karmamudra
In conversation some one mentioned that in kalacakra karmamudra monks are instructed to eat their own semen, I asked for a citation but they "didn't want to reveal" (yet revealed the actual instructions instead...) anyway, I'm some what learned in kalacakra and karmamudra and ha...

Re: Buddhist Hell
How would we classify our current experience if not as a mental projection? Would other beings be able to share in the same experience of hell and be able to see each other, or would it be a kind of solipsistic experience?Only as mental projections.

Re: Meditation Instructions
Just some manuals I know of. Likely not an actual sutra, but rather a compendium compiled by Kumarajiva Sutra on Sitting Meditation Not sutras, but instructions on Mahayana meditation: Zhiyi's basic instructions on Shamatha and Vipashyana Six Subtle Dharma Gates Zhiyi's instructions on Shamatha and...

Buddhist Hell
The hell realms are understood to be real, as real as the experiences we are having now. I've heard it said from the Mahayana (or overall Buddhist?) POV the demons doing the torturing in these realms are mind made being, meaning, they only exist as an aspect of "ourselves", therefore there...

Re: Being healthier
Now that I've established the goal of losing weight and getting healthier as I move into my next decade of life, I am finding it hard to stick with it. I struggle with eating too much sugar on certain days. My motivation is to enable me to live my best life so that I can serve others and not be a b...

Adi-Buddha laughs HA
I need help sourcing an event where an adi-buddha laughs with a great HA at the absurdity of existence. Read or heard the story years ago and now I can't source it.

Re: How much food do you consume in a lifetime?
Should we contemplate what happens to our food post digestion too? :toilet: Why not? It's all instructive, helping to place us correctly in relation to the rest of the world. And it's similar, in a way, to the meditations on death and decay, isn't it? :namaste: Kim I think its an exercise with dimi...

Re: How much food do you consume in a lifetime?
5,5 pounds ( 2,5 kg) in a day, 2007 pounds ( 912,5 kg) in a year, if you live until 78 this will make 156 546 pounds ( 71 175 kg) of food in a lifetime. This is one estimate found in the Youtube. Others give somewhat lower numbers dependng on your sex, constitution and eating habits, but it will li...

Re: Improve sleep
Any tips on improving sleep? Here is what I do already: Use bed only for sleeping (and sex), practice metta during the period of laying in bed and falling asleep. Should I try sleeping on the floor? I have a really comfy bed right now. Exercise such as cardio for 20-30 min a day and/or difficult re...

Buddhist History Books
Hi every body, I'm looking for recommendations on Buddhist history books covering the origins, migrations, and key places and people involved in Buddhism's migration up to current day. Preferably with pictures but large chunks of scholarly text will also be fine. Also, other forms of media like docu...

That show felt like David been stuck reading comment sections. He's still funny and makes good points but it's probably his worst special to date.

Anyone would be so kind to walk me through the first lines of Adzom Drukpa Sang? Maybe via the private message? I know general meaning but do not remember corresponding visualizations to these lines: RAM YAM KHAM OM A HUM HA HO HRI Get the book (or ebook) Sang & Serkyem, Rinpoche breaks it down...

Re: How to not destroy lower back with prostrations
Any tips? I am putting my hands on the ground before my knee touch the ground, the majority of my weight is on my arms/chest which seems to help. Are there other tips about posture etc? To save your back in almost any movement you need to activate your core. Tense your core as if some one is going ...

Re: Indra is a position, not a person
It isn't just Mahayana, it's Buddhism in general. Buddhism uses the Hindu cosmology but doesn't rely on deities in a soteriological manner, thus not much time is spent discussing them. Huh? So who is Amithaba and why does the entire pure land school pray to him to be reborn in Dewachen? Of course y...

Re: Indra is a position, not a person
Really interesting. So I guess I'm interested in how and why Mahayana Buddhism decided to incorporate Indra (Brahma, etc.) into their cosmology of the world and the various layers of interpretation there. It seems Mahayana Buddhism mentions them in passing but doesn't spend a lot of time discussing...

Re: Help filling in some gaps on secondary practices
We're so fortunate to have ChNN as a teacher because he left us with a plethora of secondary practices, so it comes down to your own preferences and what practices you're inclined to utilize. Obstacles can occur more frequently as a practitioners because, as ChNN put it, certain beings become jealou...
